This model represents the HC-130H Hercules flown by the US Coast Guard. During my tour of duty at King Salmon Airport, USCG HC-130H pilots flying out of Kodiak Air Station would sometimes request aviation weather support, particularly when operating in the Bristol Bay area. Likewise, during my tour of duty at Patrick AFB, USCG HC-130H pilots flying out of Clearwater Air Station would occasionally request aviation weather support. The USCG used the HC-130H for many purposes: cargo transport, long-range maritime patrol, long-range maritime search and rescue, ship and aircraft detection, and interdiction operations for drug smuggling and human trafficking. I was particularly impressed by the ability of USCG pilots to operate in the worst possible weather conditions.
