Thanks for your confidence guys! I won't let you down! 🙂

Welcome Ekki! This evening I will start rescribing the wing navigation lights because the FineMolds ones come with a too prominent raised edge. (I'm actually starting building the FP-30 kit until the FP-32 arrives in the mail and then switch over the subassemblies) So, hopefully some more photos coming up! 😉

It has already started! would not miss this for anything. Is there any other difference between fp30 and 32, apart from the decals?
24 April 2018, 07:28

I guess not as FP-30 already has the LLTV chin pod. The '95 version can be built with the early A and D parts.
24 April 2018, 11:47

Yes! It took some patience to get it across the Pacific but FP-32 landed on my doorstep today! Sunday I finally have some time to get going on this one! The decals look VERY promissing! 🙂
4 May 2018, 23:49

does the FP32 also have "beware of brast" instead of "blast"?🙂
5 May 2018, 10:56

Thanks for warning me Martin! I just checked and it has "beware of brast" on it too... 🙁 I have to figure out a way to correct that as it has light grey stenciling in a dark grey rectangle.

it is sad. they really put together a nice kit and the decals are cool as well but then engrish in the instructions and on the decal sheet as well

I might have an idea how to fix it but it's difficult to explain. I'll take pictures later on to show you.

Maybe my base is a little big but apparently the taxi track at Atsugi is this wide... I wanted some extra space to show off some of the lush green grass that borders the taxi track as seen in photos as it contrasts nice with the pale gray paint schema.

At long last an update! After a month back home, I'm at my modeling desk again! It's in the high 90s here in Oklahoma, so doing stuff outside is not cutting it right now: more modeling time inside! 🙂
21 July 2018, 15:30

🙂 But living in Oklahoma right now. 30 degrees (for people not familiar with Celsius) would be freezing and I can tell you, it's definitely not!
21 July 2018, 16:26

Tomcat alert! I am in. Interesting to see your paint test, the results look promising.
21 July 2018, 23:01

Thanks! I really like the Mr. Paint range! Sprays beautifully and the colors are spot on. Now I have the time and mojo to get this bird done. 🙂
22 July 2018, 01:09

Just one question though; isn't the light color too contrasting to the other two?
22 July 2018, 01:10

It's getting there slowly Harry... But glad you joined in!
23 July 2018, 14:23

Absolutely marvelous! The amount of detail and the ease of construction is unsurpassed! The only thing I did was adding some really thin strips of plastic card to all the front fuselage panels because in my opinion the resulting panel lines were too wide. I've seen those Tomcats built up OOB and even then the panel lines don't show up that much. Just my thing I guess...
By the way, I found out that both FP30 and FP32 hold all the parts to make about any F-14A version. The only thing missing would be the new BOL launchers and the LANTIRN, the birds had just before retirement.
23 July 2018, 14:36

I'd say the thicker lines make for a lot better result with washes. Not sure such good result will come easily on glossy hi viz for my jets though. Looking very nice on your side
26 July 2018, 20:40

Thanks! I have another one planned as a hi viz gull grey and white VF-41. I'll let you know how that will work wash wise.
26 July 2018, 21:24

Today the G.W.H. kit arrived in the mail! Time to finish some other projects to get this one revamped!
21 July 2019, 22:16

Well, the pics are all jumbled, but I figured it out for the most part. LOL On board for this.
21 July 2019, 22:40

Yeah, you are right. I'd better delete the FineMold ones until those parts come into play again.
21 July 2019, 22:42

That's an awesome kit Patrick, although 1/72 is not my favorite scale, I will definitely follow your project ... I love the Tomcat!
21 July 2019, 22:56

Oh man Jos, this kit rivals many 1/48 scale kits in detail and finesse. Welcome aboard! As well as Clifford of course!
22 July 2019, 04:25

Somehow managed to miss this journey 😮 Fantastic details and benchmark shading quality 👍 Don't want to miss the next chapters...
22 July 2019, 06:13

Welcome Slavo! When I finish my F4U and F6F, I will clear my bench again for this beauty.
22 July 2019, 15:05

Martin, I pre-ordered it through LuckyModel.com luckymodel.com/scale.aspx?item_no=GW-L7203
22 July 2019, 15:07

It said between 7 and 11 days and I think it arrived in little over a week. Pretty fast and cheaper then elsewhere.
23 July 2019, 12:49

Yesterday I fondled with the wing (couldn't resist....) and the wing has the right curvature in it! All along all the different slat, spoilers and flaps over different sprues! Amazing! And the construction pegs are Gundan sized, no worries about misalignment. 🙂
23 July 2019, 12:51

Thats nice to hear. I am planning to use the wings for my heavy maintenance project.
23 July 2019, 14:10

It´s taking shape, Patrick. And when i am allowed to say: Incredible!
23 July 2019, 14:16

I'm working my Corsair and Hellcat club projects off my workbench to get start working for my own fun again! 😄

Album info
First, my plan was to use the excellent FineMolds kit but after G.W.H.'s announcement of their upcoming F-14D kit I stalled this project in favor of the G.W.H. kit's option to deploy the spoilers. Now that this kit arrived, I changed the albums associated with this project.
