Seversky P-35A USAAC build

I realized only too late that the rear compartment should look like this on P-35As, which are Swedish P-35 that were requisitioned, and essentially not modified. 

The same seating arrangement is visible on this Swidish P-36. 

The preserved Swedish P-36 was eventually modified to receive cameras pointing sideways and down.
The rear of the pilot's seat is visible. 

 

Besides its poor fit and wrong conception (no rear seat, no back wall), the Little Fokker resin cockpit needs a fair bit of detail added... Not an essential addition to the kit, in the end ! 

Reheat photo etch and other details needed ! 

 

 

The resin needs help here too...

Hard paper and super glue to make the wheel wells walls ! 

Fit of the cockpit is poor indeed... A lot of Evergreen strips are needed to fill those very visible gaps. 

I like to use 'flash' to fill in those long gaps... Am I the only one to like flash ? 😉
 

More wheel well detail... A weak point of the Hobbycraft kit, for sure ! 

The front air scoop should jut over a bit of the engine cowling.

On the left, the corrected and thinned out wheel cover. 

Front and back of the wheel covers, thinned out from the inside too. 

And shaped with the poper bevel. 

The walls in the rear part of the wheel wells, including the small side part. 

I could have corrected the shape of the protrusion behind the lower scoop but decided to leave it as it is. Enough very visible work is needed elsewhere. 

That long scoop needs attention to fit somewhat poperly. 

HC did not place the landing gear legs in the right place. They need to be moved forward, and the original holes plugged. 

The rolll-over protection needs to be redone, since it's such a visible part. 

 

And the armored plate added to it. 

 

 

The landing gear is nearly finished. The retracting arms go inside the wing, with an actuating mechanism between them, often hidden by a cloth cover. 

I added a small bumper where the leg touches the wing. Wheel well detail and walls are visible here. 

The landing gear leg is 'articulated' around a piece of Evergreen rod. 

The near-final front, with modified/improved propeller hub, cowl guns, top air scoop and gunsight.
