A pin wash would be nice, but it requires having a gloss coat on (so that you can clean up the excess without the darker wash liquid smudging the painted surface).

I think a little bit of dust on the wheel contact surfaces would also look nice. Maybe something simple as rolling the wheel through some "dust" colored paint on a piece of paper. 🙂
