New project that was started a couple of months ago, together with the Tanguy & Laverdure comic book SMB2 build.

Thanks Bernd for the interest.
Meanwhile, the yellow has been applied.

Interesting plane and the Tiger stripes look really cool! How did you do them? Free-hand from the airbrush or masking with clay?
2 January 2023, 14:20

Thanks for the comments.
@Freak, I did them free-hand with the airbrush. Masking putty/clay doesn't work for me as the edges are never 100% consistent when I try that, so I prefer free-hand. Highly thinned paint (90/10) with low air pressure (0,4).

Painting looks great. I have to take note to paint my Tiger Meet Hawker Hunter 👍

Thanks! Nothing wizzardy Robert 🙂 , just working slowly and lots of patience.
Between the application of the yellow and this outcome are 5 afternoons. Slowly building up the black colour and afterwards some corrections with yellow again and than one final pass with black.
@Cuajete, your Hunter is almost finished, is it not? 🙂

Guido, not yet. I stripped the paint because I did not like the result. Some yellow areas were left with a sandpaper effect when I applied the sand color underneath. I think that happens when the color dries out of the airbrush before reaching the surface to be painted. Now it is waiting to be painted again.

Well then, time to get started again 🙂
Take you time and make sure the paint is thinnned well enough. I even think that for the Hunter you can use tape (small size to make bends easier) to mask of the areas as I think the colour edges on the Hunter were not so soft. So in 1/72nd scale it wouldn't matter that much. 😉

After having sourced the Model Decal sheet for this kit, I decided to sand off the AZ model tiger head decals and replace them with the Model Decal ones. The difference in detail and finish is so obvious. More explanations with each photo.

Great job! I'm not a huge tiger scheme guy but you've done a great job freehanding that scheme!
15 January 2023, 19:48

Thanks Clement, you may want to follow the, as I've "a few" more in my stash waiting to be build. 😉
15 January 2023, 19:52

Wow... A great change and an impressive appearance. It is turning out beautiful!
16 January 2023, 18:53

did you put weight in the front to avoid a tailsitter? The instructions do not mention it, so I forgot and had to improvise with my build.
8 February 2023, 20:02

No I did not. I built already another SMB2 and didn't put any weights in it, and it was fine.

On a side note, I put magnets in the main wheels and on the dedicated baseplate - which could help in such a case 🙂

Maybe because the tail of the Israeli version is a bit longer and therefore the centre of gravity a bit more backwards...?
The SMB2 Tiger is completed.
Once the baseplate is ready, I'll post more pictures.

Thanks everyone!
Currently making a base plate for this one, so more pictures will follow once the base is finished. 😉
In case you missed it, here's another SMB2 I did Dassault Super Mystère B2 - Tanguy & Laverdure | Album by guido.pm (1:72)

Baseplate was already finished a while ago, but now the images are added. 🙂

Now that is a beautiful display. I would have liked to see some more pics of the plane on it.
Two nice builds of this sleek machine. The Special Hobby kit is really a gem.

Added some additional images of the display plate for Michael Kohl to see. 😉
