Thank you. Actually I found that the choice of Humbrol enamel for painting is not a good combination with the very fine panel lines of the Special Hobby kit. After coats of Future (against attack by the wash) there is too little depth remaining for the wash to stay. I have since switched to Mr.Paint. Seems to work much better though more easily damaged.
