May I ask what is the yellow stuff on pic 3? Seems a good material for sculpting.

Many thanks
The yellow stuff is a plasticard : i"ve already ued it on MH-53J , EC225, transall...

Ronan: as usual you done an excellent job! Fantastic detailing especially winch and cockpit. Chapeau!

One puc and I am hooked. Detail is splendid as always. Another modelling feast.

I guess I never liked 1:72 heli models, too many rivets in the wrong places for a cleanup, and missing interiors. Somehow Ronan makes it all seem so easy. 🙂 Maybe a trick is to be a little selective about what kit one builds, so the kit itself isn't total shit.

Many thanks, mates 👍
@Treehugger : I would rather say that the final result depends on the time you want to devote to each model and not the quality of the original model .. Mach2 models are not known for their quality, and yet with a lot of work you can make nice models...

What I just noticed is that you have a Q on the front and the large identifiers on the side are an O. Is that how it should be?
2 November 2023, 10:58

@Guy : PE is an Eduard set for sea king hc4 : 72617
@Harry : you are right , there is no Q letter in the decal sheet , so i have to make a Q with my brush now 😉
2 November 2023, 13:34

you are the master about brushing details, but why not simply take a piece of black decal to make the missing line in the Q?
2 November 2023, 14:16

Looks absolutely fantastic. I'm excited to see what the finished model will look like. 👍👍👍👍
2 November 2023, 20:08

Really nice detail work Ronan. Love the work you are putting into this kit.
3 November 2023, 07:20

How the hell is it possible to work _THAT_ cleanly? 😮
Come on, that must be the new Airfix in 1:48 or even bigger!
12 November 2023, 15:38

Congrats to this piece of art. 🤩
So impressed on the detail level and how clean your build is. 👍🏻
12 November 2023, 16:49

many people can get masterpiece level, but Ronan is usually above that, like for example with this one.... just wow
12 November 2023, 20:19

Fantastic finish Ronan. That's how my Sea King looked....in my head..! lol. Some really nice details added. One to be proud of. Top work Ronan.
13 November 2023, 07:26

Congratulations Ronan, all your work is a pleasure for our eyes!

Q: I wonder, are there any special tools that you rely on for working with such projects like this, that you would like to mention?
Apologies if I've asked this kind of question in the past, I honestly don't remember if I did.
I am very fond of my sets of small drill bits, and I have managed to buy more and more sanding sticks and small files/metal files that I find very useful.
13 November 2023, 12:14

Many thanks for your nice comments 😉
@Treehugger : i don't have special tools, I guess after a while everyone has pretty much the same tools: flat pliers, jewelry pliers, a punch and die set ,small drill bits... I often work with copper wire 0.3mm or less, all styles of steel wire that I can pick up at home or at work. For example, the pitots are made from a copper wire which is used to attach the ski lift pass to my ski jacket... ;D
@Günther : the camera turret is the FLIR used on the nh90 nfh from Revell kit with some changes.

Once again such clean and precise work Ronan!! Very impressive.congrats!
13 November 2023, 18:02
