A pleasure to follow the build, and a very nice outcome as well.
Onwards and upwards on to the next one 😊

Thanks Michael, Jan, Alex, Alec and all the likie bods, I'm glad you like the result. 🙂
Jan: There will be a bit of a break for a while while I get other stuff done before I get back to modelling….although I have a couple of ideas in mind.

That is a wonderful representation of a unique vehicle, only we Brit's could come up with "I know, why don't we build a three wheel tractor unit to haul trailers without power steering" "Ah yes, the oik gets a work out whilst being productive. Right! start bashing metal you proles " No really a lovely model, which is a testament to your skills. I also enjoyed the build thread and accompanying jocular missives. 👍🥸🤘🥸🤟

Thanks very much Neuling, Duncan and Mark for taking the time to comment. 🙂

In addition to the parallel build, just as great!
I think the shovel in the rubbish is funny! Has someone thrown in the towel?

Thanks for commenting mates, glad you like it. 👍
Frank: to be honest I couldn't think where else to shove the shovel. 🙂

Let me take you back to Britland, just after that 1940’s unpleasantness. Not literally of course, there’s only one seat in my time machine. A time when people thought a Brylcreem quiff looked hip daddy-o (cool man), ‘The mashed potato’ was thought a reasonable name for a dance and tuberculosis was all the rage. A time when ‘designers’ designed the clothes of millionaires and were kept well away from the motor manufacturing least they inject the foreign concept of ‘flair’ into the British way of life. With one unfortunate blip (Jag ‘E’ Type) that state of affairs continued until well into the 90’s – a point proven by the Austin Metro and Maestro.
Even without the interference of designers (or perhaps because of) the Mechanical Horse and it’s Scarab replacement were a huge success.
This was my winter 24/25 project...sort of. My intended project was to learn to use a 3D design package and I kind of got sidetracked a tiny bit.
My aversion to accuracy (it’s a preference, not an allergy) was satisfied by the 99.9% certainty that these dustcart never set tread in Coventry. Other than that one historical porky* the model is based on photographic evidence (I feel faint even saying it).
The Mechanical Horse is entirely scratch-built other than the rear wheels and mud guards. The dustcart trailer is scratch-built other than the chassis (which you can’t see) and heavily modified front wheel assembly (one part becoming 28).
*(translation: porky = pork pie = lie).
If you want to read though the build report, this is the linky thing (warning: contains nuts.):
