After a few self-inflicted mishaps, the model of this famous Vega was finally finished.
Many thanks to Jacqueline in Switzerland for her help!

Looks better than the one in the NASM (I've seen her there...). Congrats!

As usual: great job! I like your definition of gloss ("scaled down") 🙂. I do the same to avoid the toy effect. I hope to see more golden age birds in the same manner🙂

What a wonderful feedback 🙂 Thank you very much mates!
@Robert That are bad news. I thought it looks nice there and also on the high-res pictures of the museum it looks great. But I do not want to ruin my model to display it in the condition of the museum 🙂
It's a real shame that my wheel painting is wrong. I only found a reference picture after the shoes were glued together.

Wheel painting: wrong?? I checked you wheel with the original and I can't see any difference…

An otherwise indiferent bird, personally speaking, you managed to turn into a spectacle!

Bernhard, your link does not work. But all pics I know show only the tires and not the rims.
The picture I found later shows the complete wheels of Amelias plane during maintenance, see the text here:

The DoraWings model shows also a bit of the rims.
There were tow types of tires: on thin one, and a optional low pressure tire with thick wheels and bigger wheel pants.
Thank you Giannis! Glad you like it 🙂

Beautiful work, my friend. A very sharp build. I love the red and gold paint scheme you went with. Looks terrific on this. Fantastic, as always!

....favulous...one question....the red vega that fly across the atlantic had no wing numbers? ...this is a later version?

Thank you very much mates!
Kyle, have you seen this in the museum (which was my template) too?
4 April, 21:48

The Vega looks great, Frank. Everything's finally come to a good end.

Thanks Stefan! You mates are so great - especially you, Christoph and Roland with the offer to help 👍 I haven't heard anything from DW to date.
4 April, 22:23

Hi Frank. I haven't seen this one. It was not on display when I was at the museum. Perhaps one day!

OOPS
Somehow I missed it.
It looks pretty differend compared to all the weathered and worn stuff shown here so often.
Differend and very beautifull.

Fantastic, beautiful and excellent! 👏👏👏
A feast for my eyes! Thank you!

Beautiful bird and perfectly built model! 👍👍👏👏 I have Vega 5C waiting in the stash which I intend to build in Lituanica II scheme someday. Your model is great inspiration, thank you! 😀

Thank you very much mates!
@Agnius Your kit allows also a (different) red one. The kit is nice, in some areas fantastic, but in other areas the short run nature is clearly shown. The kit is developed for the future as there are many options which are not yet used in the already released kits. Those parts helped me to build the aircraft as shown in Smithsonian museum. And take care with the manual - it shows unused options to be mounted - until you see the colored painting guide very lately 🙂

No inbuild pictures? The result is very exquisite again. I marvel at the details. I was considering to build this machine as a reverence to Amalia Earhart, but will finally go for the Lockheed Electra.

Thank you Michael!
I found missing details to be able to scratch something as usual 🙂 You can find some build pics in an own album attached to the project.

Album info
This is roughly (really only roughly) how this red machine looks in the museum.
