Mike, are you a goldsmith....or a mage??? An ordinary man cannot do a job like this in 1/72. As I'm a 1/72 builder, I'm astonished 🙂

A fantastic result out of an ancient kit, absolutely brilliant !

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT. Good that you place the Tamiya in one of the pictures Mike: this jewel looks like a 1:48!

Mike, the bag models went out of fashion decades ago, and this begs the question, "How old is this kit mate"?
So delicately clean and crisp in every way my friend. A little treasure. 🙂

Kerry, don't laugh,,,,,,,,,but, that is one of the "newer" kits from the seventies, it wasn't a bagged kit, the photo of the unbuilt kit is of one of the plastic bubble kits, with the instruction on the cardboard header and back side. Believe it or not, there were boxed kits in between the plastic bagged kits and the plastic bubble kits, then boxes again after the bubbles.

Thanks again guys, I appreciate all the nice comments 🙂
@Rex. Actually Rex it was a genuine, 1969 bagged kit as my last pic shows. Not that it makes any major difference as it's the same plastic in every release, although the earlier the pressing the sharper and cleaner the parts.

Mike, you should make a new listing for the kit. Even if boxart is the same, this site gives each different release a separate listing. Scalemates could use the bagged kit photo in your album and this kit would go in the "completed kit" listing for that one. The Bubble Top kit is the photo for the kit listing you used, It shows as your "Project"
and I forgot something else,,,,to the Brits and Aussies that bought and built Airfix kits back in the same time stretch that we did in America, I would bet that you didn't see many of the Airfix Craftmaster boxes. There would be no need to release many of the boxed kits that we had in the US, simply because you didn't have to have an Importer bring them into your market. (likewise the later MPC and USAirfix stuff, I suppose) Of course, in the used kit market, you could have anything anywhere since those days.

Thanks Rex: I went back and checked the database and there was already an early bagged Bulldog, so I've amended my project. Thanks for the heads-up 👍

Hi Mike, just great 👍 👍 👍, not uncommon in the kit 😠 😠, but in your Talent 🙂

Glad to help. And now, when someone comes along and reads your build as a reference for their own extremely rare USN Bulldog, my comments here and in the thread with Kerry will appear as complete gibberish, Lol.
Where did you find a photo of the USN Bulldog? I don't remember seeing one anywhere, just a listing in the BuNo list that the US had got ahold of one from the UK.

@Rex, as I mentioned in the notes accompanying the album, I couldn't find any photos either, so the scheme is speculative, but hopefully believable...

It looks so fantastic and like a real one on the photos, really excellent Mike!
30 April 2015, 17:04

Incredible what you have made of this old airfix, Mike Excellent work and believable 🙂

Another beautiful little wingy creation by Mike 🙂 Really good work for 1/72!

It is hard for me to imagine doing the rigging on a biplane let alone in a 1/72nd. Your workmanship and quality is superb. My hat's off to you. Keep up the good work!

I am deeply impressed.... That´s one of the best I have ever seen, the rigging makes me...weeping, so beautiful! 🙂
Thank you for these pictures!

I can help with a picture of a USN Bulldog. There is a mediocre picture in Gordon Swanborough and Peter Bowers book "United States Navy Aircraft since 1911". It shows the second Bulldog A-8607.
I have loaded the picture here www.scalemates.com/profiles/mate.php?id=15497&p=albums&album=22949

Thank you again for commenting. And thanks for the pic, Thomas. My model now represents a what-if, had the Bulldog entered US service 🙂

BIG WOW....I'm always impressed what you do to this old kits 🙂 🙂 🙂

Album info
Classic kit from Airfix. Dates back to the 60s I think, but the detail is superb for its era. Kit is rigged with stainless steel wire. Two Bulldogs were sent to the US for evaluation. I couldn't find any images of the scheme used so this is speculative, but the serial is correct at least 🙂
