Sweet, welcome aboard Sören! Just assembled a couple sub-assemblies and painted the cockpit base color so far. Should be a nice, low stress build. So far everything fits great. Not a lot of aftermarket on this one. This one is intended to enter my IPMS club "1950's" theme contest in October.

Well I'll take a seat to take a look to this interesting Phantom precursor. I build the Grand Phoenix kit in 2006. so I'm a little bit curious about the fit and sub assemblies of this new kit.

This looks like an interesting project. I really like the Demon and I will follow this project with great interest.

Thanks everyone for stopping by! Make yourself at home and enjoy the show! Hopefully tonight I will have some pics of a completed cockpit. That is my goal for today's bench session!

Got the cockpit mostly together, need to weather it a bit still, and need to go back in and do a few things to the IP. This is the first time putting PE belts on a bang seat. Man, that sure was fun. NOT. lol

Well, you've done very well with the PE Michael 👍. Pit looks very good also.

Thanks for stopping by everyone! Update: Got the fuselage halves together now. Need to clean up the seams a bit more, but it is coming along!

Your moving at a cracking pace, she sure does look good too.👍

Interesting! I´ll stay tuned! I´m not sure if it was mentioned already in you other builds but what is the black base colour you use? Black primer?
12 September 2016, 13:37

Thanks Michael! I do tend to work quickly. Each build usually takes me 3-4 weeks, however the Hasegawa Tomcat I just built took 6.5 weeks, the longest project for me ever.

Thanks, welcome to the show Sven! I use a black primer, Gunze Mr Finishing Surfacer 1500 Black. The stuff just goes on like a dream! And I thought the Tamiya Fine Surfacer primers were good, the Gunze Primer is even better! The white stippling/doodles are made using Tamiya Liquid Primer White.

Hmmm, looks like a lot of techniques I can use on my 1/72nd version
12 September 2016, 15:11

Thanks for the hint Michael! I will try that technique on my next A/C.
12 September 2016, 17:18

@Michael, I wish I could build them that quick, usually takes me a couple of months and I'm at home every day.🤔

Intersting preshading, can`t wait to see progress here. Great work.

Thanks guys! Yeah David, cruisin' right along. Got the all of the white underside and most of the Gull Gray topside painted. Should finish it off tonight, future coat tomorrow, and dacals on Friday. Hope to have this one wrapped up mid next week.

I like it Michael, it looks great. This one has been on my wish list for along time. F-4 is almost finished.
19 September 2016, 20:17

what a lovely build, but how was it Michael? i do very much want to build one of these myself in 1/72 tho
20 September 2016, 07:11

Thanks Murad! So far it has been a rather nice build. The fit was very good just about everywhere, with only a couple little hiccups. I am not as familiar with 1/72 kits, what is the best one out there for the F3H?
20 September 2016, 14:41

Michael i don't think there is any worthy in 72, i just hope HB would scale this down to 72 as they did with many other of their kits.
20 September 2016, 15:31

Thanks Erik and Bryn! Weathering is now done. Hope to finish her up tonight or Saturday!
23 September 2016, 12:57

Looks really nice so far, the weathering comes out very well!
