Christian Bruer AutorI start this little biplane at the beginning of the week. Today I started adding a wash with oils. Both inner fuselage sides, seat and engine are nearly done. When they dried completely I will add some highlights using white oils. Because this is the Weekend Edition kit there are no PE parts etc., but I used a PE seat frome ageneric PE set I bought for a while. There is no instrument panel, but some instruments attached to the framework. I made three of them and placed them left, right and close to the centre line. I don't know if it is 100% correct, but it looks good to me.
So stay tuned for the further progress

The oils dry faster than I expect. Normally I use them highly diluted with lighter fluid, but this time I paint them less thinned. So I can close the fuselage halves soon, but before I will do this I add the inner stringers made of streched black sprue. I add them just in the prominent field left and right to the seat. All other areas will not be visible when closed.
About the rigging, to me too Mike🙂 I will try it the first time on an scale 1/72 biplane. My friends Axel and Tom gave me some hints how to do, so stay tuned😉

Christian Bruer AutorThe main work is nearly done. I glued the fuselage halves together, filled the seam lines with superglue and sand them once the superglue dried completely. Next was the lower wing with the same procedure of filling and sanding. The tail plane was cut off to show the elevator with a degree, same with the rudder.
I add the struts and adjust them slightly to get a proper fit with the upper wing later. There was some filler required at the end of the struts to close some sink marks. The framework for the landing gear is also attached.
All in all a nice little kit with an excellent fit. There is just some minor work to do before I can apply a first coat of paint.

I have ordered a Miniworld Vickers machine gun to replace the kit part. I will wait and seen till the package arrive to start the final assembly work and the paint job.

Christian Bruer AutorMhhh, working with much smaller scales since 2005 and using magnifying glasses since 2012 this is more or less practice in handling small parts. Believe me, a scale 1/72 part can look much bigger in magnification. But there is one important topic, patience. I do not know how much time I spent on the floor, looking for parts that miraculouse jumped of my pliers😄

Greg BakerNice work as always. I've been considering getting this kit, and your work is inspiring. It's funny to hear that many of us have the same experience with magnifying glasses and spending time on the floor. I sometimes lie down on the floor to glue a tiny little part in place... makes the drop less far to travel.

Well I plan to use a monofilament called Rigg that Thing. It is more or less the same as fishing line. I plan to add the thread in 0,3mm diameter brass tube, according to a hint from my modeling friends Axel and Tom.

Yes I will do a step by step. But you should not miss to take a look to Tom Grigat's Youtube Channel. He explain the rigging and I plan to follow his advise - enjoy!
My modeling friend Axel use the same method but he do not use a brass tube but a streched styrene tube of approx. 0,3mm.

Christian Bruer AutorI got the Mini World Vickers MG as a replacement for the kit part. The tiny brass casted Vickers looks amazing. I add a PE bracket as a support for the Vickers and the kit part for the machine gun belt. Furthermore I add a headrest and pivot points for the elevator pivot point.
Seems to me this one is ready for some paint now!
