Really should have left the rudder, horizontal stabilizers and elevator off before painting--I've created some masking steps that were not necessary. 

Darker than I intended, but generally happy with woodgrain effect 

 

 

I was unhappy with the supplied plastic or PE guns (entirely my fault in trying to bend PE into a cylinder) but it did give me a chance to try out these beautiful resin guns. 

These are the Fokker version of the guns but the only difference with the Albatros guns is the addition of a shell chute that can be left off. 

 

A little graphite on the barrel and cooling jacket add a nice sheen.
