Italeri's HH60J US Coast Guard (raised panel lines)

September 15, 2020Now what? Not the same size? Ohffs. :|2
September 15, 2020Fixed.3
September 15, 2020Now what? All red? I don't think so.4
September 15, 2020This front piece had some details, but I couldn't clean it up like I wanted, so I removed all the details.5
September 15, 2020The kit part for the tail rotor shaft was bad, and just did not stick out in the proper direction, so I just added a piece of styrene rod.6
September 15, 2020The interior is very simple, but ok. This kit has the option for displaying an open side door on the starboard side, and apparently an open pilot door on the port side. Nevermind the seats, it was a quick fix. perhaps too quick.7
September 15, 2020There is another chair to be glued into the interior. So this kit has, gasp, raised panel lines, but it doesn't look bad. Anyway I will remove the raised panel lines, which is simple enough, and just go for a smooth model. Could be interesting. I may, scribe the panel lines around the two pilot doors.
Also, I started this small project, because I have to wait on some sprue goo to go hard on this D-20 artillery kit I also am working on.8
September 18, 2020Old kit part. About 1mm thick plastic around the opening for the main rotor assembly.9
September 18, 2020I thinned the edge by scraping with a sharp blade, should be a noticeable improvement from the outside.10
September 18, 2020So this is the basic main rotor assembly, missing four rods and ofc the large rotor blades. I did not want to try detail this, but I guess I can maybe add some wiring if it makes sense, and replace the four rods not seen in the photo, with clean styrene rods. I scraped the top plate to become more oval.
Edit: I forgot to point out that had already I snipped off some stuff here, and will re-add it with bits of styrene. I had also glued on some bits of styrene rod at this point.
