Album info

This moulding has been around for just short of fifty years, and though it does not feature Tamiya's modern detailing, it reflects how the company has always sat at the top of the tree. The fit was superb, and the model filler sat mostly neglected throughout. It is mostly out of the box, with some extra parts from Airwaves AC48050 PE detail set and Quickboost's replacement engine (no.48036), and is the 'Pacific Theatre' boxing (no.61094). I used one of the kit options, though I did replace the roundels and fin flash and trimmed the kit decals as closely as possible. Decals are the only thing Tamiya could improve on in their kits. The model was airbrushed with Alclad Mil-Spec Enamels, which I am most impressed with, and it was finished with Winsor and Newton Galleria acrylic mattvarnish. I think it is a little too matt, however, and next time I may try mixing it with some satin to put a little life into it.
