- Damaged at Pearl Harbor, then rebuilt as a Tennessee-class battleship
- War record included the Leyte Gulf campaign and bombardment of Saipan, as well as being struck by a kamikaze (The Battle of Surigao Strait was history's last battleship-vs-battleship engagement)
- I have a personal interest as my grandfather served as an enlisted sailor in Division 3 assigned to Turret #3 from 1943-1945
I intend to present the completed model on a diorama base as a gift at his 90th birthday in August.
