Was a busy modeller as a kid. By 13 I was kit bashing & crude scratchbuilding. Always had a thing for softskins over AFV and never got into aircraft. Fizzled out by 15. 3 decades later I gave up nicotine and built a Showmans caravan in 4mm scale from rubbish I had lying about. Realised the devil makes work for idol hands and now my kit stash is crazy. My front room is a micro engineering workshop and my bedroom sprouted a model railway. Was going to be a big wargames board for El Alamein fun but the son bottled out/feared for his street cred! So I re-purposed the ruddy thing.
I have lots of kits not on the database so I will try and upload. Theres a lot of white metal, a few resin and the odd obscure plastic kit I've picked up over the past few years. I never stray from 4mm to a foot or 1:76. {THAT'S 25 MILLIMETRES NOT 20 BTW wargamers. My Dad was the only bloke in the Army who would be a 20mm fig in 4mm scale... } Except to include 1:72,1:77,1:80 and the odd 1:87 (fairground rides). I sold my WW2 North Africa/Western Desert AFVs and just kept the allied stuff I could use for an LRDG diorama and German softskins for a DAK HQ Diorama.
I also collect/hoard diecast vehicles in 4mm scale. Especially heavy haulage, fairground, military and pre 1986 vehicles I can use on my 1980s railway. I've built Code 3 Fairground lorrys by bashing diecasts, Scratchbuilding and conversion. I will use ANYTHING that looks useful. Upcycle, Recycle, Re-use,Survive Innit.
Despite my obsession with big lorries a Dodge 50 is the biggest thing I have owned.
I am looking for a white metal Kit of a Scammell Crusader Lorry (Artic Unit) as released by Motorway Model Kits or possibly as Mi-Kits. It may be in a plain bag with no instructions and could be mistaken for a BW kit however the casting is very fine with loads of detail and no flash at all. Will pay well for kit, will pay £50 if one turns up in its Cardboard box with printed picture stuck on.
