The Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIC No. 336 Squadron was part of the Royal Hellenic Air Force, which operated under the British Desert Air Force (DAF) of the Royal Air Force (RAF) during World War II. Formed in early 1943 and based at RAF Landing Ground (LG) airstrips in North Africa, the squadron was equipped with the rugged and reliable Hurricane Mk.IIC, a version armed with four 20mm Hispano cannons, ideal for ground-attack missions.
Flying in the harsh desert conditions, the Greek pilots of No. 336 distinguished themselves by supporting Allied advances, conducting strafing runs, and providing air cover—the Hurricane Mk.IIC's sturdy design and firepower made it a dependable workhorse for these daring missions. Greek markings proudly displayed alongside RAF insignia—a testament to international cooperation in the fight against the Axis.
