1:48 Mitsubishi J2M3 Raiden ' Jack '

I like what you've done with the rear deck mounted radio box. Don't know if it's an authentic representation or not, but it sure looks the business and adds interest.

Dear ' The Blytonian '
It actually was , I was sent photos of the actual WW2 aircraft - it had this same set up , see the 1/32 new tool Raiden scale Kit , it has a RADIO in this configuration
the real Radio had wires entering it , in the places shown. I am a member of J-Aircraft.com

Thanks David. Most helpful.
When you say the new tool Raiden kit, are you referring to Zoukei-Mura's or Hasegawa's? Contextually I'm presuming Hasegawa, but just to be sure as Hasegawa's 'new tool' Raiden has actually been out 13 years this year.
Very excited about it, I recently bought Hasegawa's 1/32 J1M3 kit 08882. Already decided I'm building it in the plainer 302 FG Atsugi base scheme. I have had a look at the instructions and sprues shortly after receipt of course, but had forgotten re that radio detail as I did buy several of Hasegawa's 1/32 kits during a too good to refuse opportunity pre-Christmas sale. I would have noticed it when checking it out originally, as I have built Tamiya's venerable 1/48 J1M3 kit with its of its era scant internal deck detail.
Ordinarily I build aircraft in 1/48, but find I'm enjoying the detail and presence of 1/32 more these days, and the larger scale is much friendlier to aged eyes and fumble fingers.
My 1/32 Raiden is still in the stash awaiting its turn as I'm currently finishing off their 1/32 A6M5c Model 52 bought at the same time. Not sure which will be next, but a fair bet it'll be either Hasegawa's Ki-61-1 Hei or Bf 109F-4 Trop.
Many thanks again for that info. I haunt J-Aircraft & Aviation of Japan too. WWII and pre-1941-1945 war IJN & IJA aviation is one of the SI of mine.

Hi Jennifer and Blytonian , I meant the Hasegawa kit in 1/32 scale
The Radio from my reference photos I was sent is accurate to how I represent it here ( the model seen here was made 15 years ago ). Thank 😊 ❤️ you
Album info
I used the Hasegawa Mitsubishi Raiden J2M3 1/48 Model kit 09667 “ 302nd Flying Group “ and used the following Aftermarket parts used in the construction:
2 Eduard PE sets - 48 201 and FE117 - both are essential to buy as they each have etch parts that the other doesn’t offer
N1K2-J etch set to supply extra handles and switches
Eduard Express Mask EX 095 and Squadron Vac Canopy 9587
Fukuya Brass pitot tube
Airmaster Brass 20mm Cannon Barrels (these are highly recommended as they have hollow ends)
Moskit Exhausts
The essential super-detail modifications which I made was adding copper wire (taken from a piece of ordinary insulated wire) to construct the 2 Radio Electrical cables, and at the sides of the cockpit, which I found were necessary due to a close study of the cockpit drawings and photos kindly supplied by the Japanese Aviation expert, Mr Jim Long.
