Fuselage and wings need some attention because of some air bubbles. Some filling and sanding is required. I add a lot of attention to the engine nacelles. The aft shape of the nacelles was not correct and I need some filling and sanding to get q quite satisfied result.
Wings and ailerons fit quite well with only less filling and sanding. Aircraft and small parts are now clear for a first coat of primer to check the surface.

First coat of primer to check the filled and sanded surface. It look more or less ok, there are only a few scratches and holes to fill and sand again.
I plan to build her in this scheme.

Does any of the wingy thing experts has some more information?!
TIA and cheers, Christian

Thx Martien, it is more a very slow progress than a start🙂

You never cease to amaze me with your small scale work Christian. With my eyes I probably wouldn't even see it without glasses 🙂 🙂
31 March 2015, 16:50

Thank you Martyn, glad you like it🙂 Ah and mee too - without glasses it is just a grey scheme - time goes on.

Beautyful lines on this bird, Christian ! Bright yellow is a great choice - something colourful for a change ! 🙂

Well third coat of paint, this time white as a basic for the later yellow paint. The cockpit is just painted interior green as well as the seat. There are only minor details but this is ok you will never see any more detail when enclosed with the canopy.
2 May 2015, 18:31

Thx mate, but I have to polish the primed surface before I add the yellow paint. Looks a little bit grainy under my microscope🙂
4 May 2015, 17:41

It looks grainy in photos too😉 but yeah, a bit of a polish and off you go.. will it be yellow all over?
4 May 2015, 19:04

Hehe, the photo is my microscope - makro function🙂 Yep, the scheme is posted a bit earlier here in my WIP.
4 May 2015, 20:11

I add PE belts to the seat and closed the cockpit with the pre painted canopy. The kit part is quite ok for a short run kit and I hope it will look fine when finally painted.
16 May 2015, 15:12

The macro photos curse🙂
Yep, the canopy does not fit perfectly but you can only observe it while studying photos or locking with Mr. Magoo's eyes through a magnifying glass.
17 May 2015, 09:47

I'd use a bit of Mr.Surface, propably nr.1000. Just put it around the join and let it set, should turn out good.
18 May 2015, 08:39

I use matt acrylic gel. Don't know how it will look after the next coat of paint. But, it is so tiny and not to observer while looking from a normal distance to the model. Just a luxury problem I think🙂
18 May 2015, 17:26

Although this is a tiny model it took some time to paint it. Yellow isn't easy to paint even you use an airbrush. There are three coats of yellow. I start with a dark tone and add some shades with two brighter tones. Because the color dried quick I fixed the landing gear and gear doors. The engines and propellers are finished too but before I add the parts I will finish the Cat first. Next is to polish the surface and after that a coat of Future to seal the paint and as a basic for the decals.
20 May 2015, 19:46

Boy, These very colourful schemes really catch my eye at the moment ! Which colours did you use for this one ?
And, speaking of " Future " , I bought this "Emsal Vollglanz" stuff as well , but I didn't use it up to now because I'm not sure if ift is the right stuff, and what would be the use of it. Do you use it instead of gloss clear ?
20 May 2015, 20:24

Glad you like it Hanno🙂
I use Vallejo Acrylics. For the first coat I use Model Air 71078 Gold Yellow, second coat Model Color 70953 Flat Yellow, third coat Flat Yellow toned down with Off White.
I use future since a couple of years instead of gloss varnish. It is absolutely shine and dries very fast. It is not only to get a smooth surface for decals but to seal the acrylic color. You can add a coat of satin or matt varnish after you have applied the decals without any problem.
I guess Emsal is nearly if not the same. I got a small bootle of Future from a modeling friend and this will hold for a long time.

Thx Edgars and Martien. About the Tailsitter, no problem, a base is planned and the Cat will be fixed to the base when finished.
21 May 2015, 10:24

Holy Moly a few days offline and I need some time to take a look to all your amazing and wonderful progress here on Scalemates!!!!
There is a lot of real work to do so I have less time for modelmaking at the moment. To get some feeling of success in modelmaking I finished my RAF SE5a and my Tigercat this weekend. The Tigercat need to be glued to the base once dried completely.

It is indeed beautiful sir! But the panel lines on fuselage tube seem to be a bit too deep for me..? Also, a little weathering here and there wouldnt be bad! 🙂
12 July 2015, 18:39

Yep, the panel lines are deep like trenches. Therefore I did not highlight them with a dark color. I only use a medium yellow oil color to get a subtle outline of the panel lines. I add no weathering just a light highlighting of the panels and some light exhaust streaks on the engine nacelles. The plane crashed on it's first flight and I guess the bird was clean without any shades etc.
