I anticipated a problem with the decal on the front raduiator grill so i painted it on. Its the first time i have ever painted instead of using a decal and that went well. however i risked using the decals for the side of the vehicle and now i regret it. The girder on the side of the vehicle is too deep channelled to allow the decal to settle in it. So does anyone know if there is a way to remove decals easily? I painted with tamiya Acrylic and used acrylic varnish so i fear using water.

Well i guess thats it finished. I am still learning the weathering and airbrushing so was a good experience. I messed uo the front windows when using thnner to remove paint and had to spend ages using polishing compound to make them clear again. The side decals were a dissapointment and did not conform to the channel on the back cabin. I should have painted them as i did with the front one. Really enjoyed doing this and other ICM soft skinned vehicles, aircraft has always been my main interest. I have only returned to modelling in the past two years so a deviation to vehicles and AFVs is a nice change.

Hi Alistair!
At first, congrats to this cool build! I love the heavy weathering!
And regarding your decalproblem - Micro Set is also good for applying decals, as for removing them!😉
Cheers

i used the microset and Micro sol but the channel was too abrupt a height change.

it can be done in several steps. I use the above mentioned product, but also the decalsetting from daco (medium and strong). I put the decal in place, and with a rather stiff flat brush, moistened with the decalsetting I push/ guide the decal in its place (from the middle to outside). It can take several steps till the result is satisfying.
With regards to the model... nice work with the weathering... but what an ugly front of the truck......

Thanks it was also my first ever atempt at freehand camo. I struggled at first due to overspray but finally got a paint consistancy and pressure to work not too bad, all in the learning curve.
