nice and something completely different. How did you do the handguards?

No specific scale, it was built "on impulse"....with a mix of materials.
Blades are thick aluminium, cut, thinned and polished.
Handle was made with evergreen plasticard sheets glued together around the end of the blade. Black decoration was thin stripes of paper painted black and carefully glued to the handle.
Other decorations are made with brass sheet and brass wire.
The guards are evergreen, drilled and, painted golden (acrylics if iI remember correctly),
The scabbards where flattened radio antennas. I did not have that match matterials 20 years ago and that gave a strong and hollow container. Polishing the interior was complicated, but you can extract and insert the blades without scratching the soft aluminum.
Decorations is scabbards are again brass sheet and brass wire
Pitty I never added the decoration at the end of the bigger scabbard. One day I need to also add some more decoration with metal or silk, to simulate what real Japanese sword commonly use

There was a moment in time where these swords were forbidden, and the sword was nothing more than a wooden stick to hide it's purpose...

Looks like you can turn your hand to anything Spanjaard. Interesting idea and excellent result.

thanks a lot gorbygould, it was a pleasure to make them.
to be honest my first idea was to make the "Ramirezś Masamune" sword😉, but I did not have good references for the hilt back in the day.... and it would have been too complicated anyway, so i ended doing something more simple.
eventually, i will probably do some more. probably a Spanish rapier of around XVI century., I really like those....

Aah, so this is what you are up to when you are building stuff - stylish mini modelling tools! 🙂
Looking great - like the real-deal swords meant for the purpose, not over-ornate display pieces 👍
