Here are first pictures of Airfix´great Whitley.
The kit coruscates with a great amount of details- and a very astonishing and unusual layout of the fuselage construction- indeed all the parts you see will form the fuselage- that´s quite a fascinating composition! Fit seems great, Eduards etched parts will only partly be used because they would not be any improvement of the kits details.
I am quite content so far..... 🙂

The kit shows a very pleasant richness of detail- here as an example the interior of bow- and rear turret.

Although I'm a big fan of any British design, ship, aeroplane, train, car, etc. this is one of the ugliest birds they ever designed. But, the Whitley was capable and could carrier a higher load then any of her contemporaries. Well, I will take a seat and watch the ugly duckling grow🙂

Hello mates,
I would like to show you some further steps.
The fit of the three fuselage- wings parts is rather crude; I had to rework with scalpel and sanding paper to get all joined. Some minor fill- and sanding work will smooth everything together.
Quite a sturdy construction after all!

Beautiful or not- the distinctive "nose down" attitude of the Whitley appeared, as soon as I had assembled all the main parts of this bomber 🙂
The Airfix kit continues to be pure modeling fun, in spite of severe gaps between engine cowls and wings- but that´s nothing not to be cured with putty and sanding paper.

next was applying Alclad White Aluminum on a primer made of gloss black. This will allow me to scratch the following layers of paint with the sharp end of a needle to get the effect of worn off colour.....

The basic paintwork is done- some wear and tear will follow.....
I softened the hard edges of the masked "Dark Green/ Dark Earth" with free held airbrush, a perfect opportunity to do some corrections or spontaneous improvements of the edges......

I think the Whitley was good at dropping leafets! Seriously though a nice aircraft showing the best of its type in the late 1930's and a very nice representation by you with this kit.

The enjoyable Whitley is nearly finished, just some minor finishing work has to be done. This time I would like to do the aerial cables with thinly stretched sprue..... something I did want to try out for long, because I am annoyed by all those thread lines on my models getting getting saggy- who knows, maybe it will work! 🙂

Hurrah! This beautiful kit is finished! That really is a fine offer has made with it´s new tool Whitley.
The undertaking of stretched sprue aerials was stopped- instead I used, also a novum, "Uschis stretchable threads", should also work.

The Roc sounds interesting and I would love to see one of the new ICM kits (Do 215 / 17 or a Ju 88 ) on your bench.
Nobody really build them yet and mine are not planned in the next time.

A Vickers Wellington Mk.XIV will make the start, followed by a Halifax in the colours of Coastal Command. Not to forget the Whitley Mk.VII, which was mailed yesterday by Airfix. All three in 1:72 by the way.
FAA will be present with a Fulmar and a Firefly Mk.I, both in 1:48....... and I am training mentally and in the way of manually skills for a rather daunting Walrus-project 🙂
As far as to my megalomania..... 🙂
