Fuselage together and wings. Looks as if there will be quite a bit of filler required underneath...

Great start on an old kit, Guy!
Many years ago, my dad, oldest brother and I went to Northwestern Alberta to see a lend-lease Aircobra that had crashed the winter of '43 on a remote lake on its delivery flight. It wasn't found until 1964. Have a picture of a 10 year-old me sitting in the remains of the cockpit. Took the trim control knob as a souviner. Think I still have it somewhere at my parents place...

Thanks Gordon 🙂 Impressed (and a little jealous 🙂 )that you've seen "in the flesh" a P-39 that flew during WW2 and that you got the chance to sit in the cockpit. 🙂

Wings now fitted to fuselage. Had to use lots of filler for the gaps!

My first attempt at pre-shading and next pic the initial result with top of fuselage Vallejo Model Air 71.016 USAF Olive Drab.

Neat and clean, in particular when taking into account the quality of the sprues 🙂

@ wilky, I don't know if they ever have released a P-39 with RAAF decals???

Airfix haven't ever released a P-39 with R.A.A.F. decals.
Australia is often forgotten by the kit manufacturers.
Italeri and Academy do the most. Hasegawa does a few but only a small percentage of total output
