Hi Bruce, I think that the camo isn't too bad! Moreover, you are now more experienced!

Thanks for your encouragement, Moreno. Wet on wet with acres of solvent sloshing around is not recommended! Acrylics seem to dry too fast to work like this, so I'll have to experiment further.

I've been experimenting and learning lots, painting cobbled roads, stone and brick walls. Def not as easy as some modellers' dioramas look. Can't beat a challenge!

Bruce … try adding retarder to the acrylic paint ,,,, some water and dishwashing soap will do

Maybe for outlining the brown spots you could have used a light brown pencil, so it would have been less of a problem if it shines through. Maybe if you add some additional layers it will improve, and the merging you could also achieve with a filter.

Thanks for the tips, Julian and Steven. In my defence, Neuling, I was trying to faithfully follow the instruction's pattern and the box-art colours. Freeform? Precision! 😉

Album info
This was my first attempt to paint with enamels. Water-colour techniques don't quite wash, so to speak. But the main lesson learnt was not to mark out the pattern with pencil! I still very rarely use a colour 'as is', but will often add a hint of this or that.
