Imperial TIE Fighter - Bandai, 1/72

Album info
My latest project is another from a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, this time the Imperial TIE Fighter. Kit is 1/72 scale, from Bandai. These Star Wars kits from Bandai truly are fantastic, truly impressive detail molded into the parts and darn near falls together. Kit is designed to be built out of the box with no glue or paint, with the darker grey sections able to be handled by stickers or decals. However, that doesn't work for me, so everything was painted, with decals used only for the small markings. I applied a dark grey wash (Tamiya) to all the surfaces, with some dry-brushing on the solar collectors and a small amount of appropriate weathering. Being that TIE Fighters were originally designed for only non-atmospheric operation (i.e. in space), and with no energy shields were largely cannon fodder, they had little opportunity or time to get dirty. Therefore, I applied a little wear and dirt only at the pilot ingress/egress hatch. All in all, a really nice little kit, and really enjoyable to build. With that you can see the pictures for how it all turned out in the end.
Cheers,
Chris
