Finished the IS-2 today, although some stowage and figures (commander lurking in the hatch and four guys on the engine deck) are going to come along next.
All in all, it was quite fun to built this tank, even though the Dragon kit shows its age on all corners. There's just something powerful and raw about this machine!
The biggest surprise was the usability of gouache paints. I can highly recommend them for whitewashes and also dust and dirt. They dry as fast as acrylics, have the same high pigment count as oils, but the these aren't even the best things: you can retouch them with water. Awesome! For the dust effects, they reacted with the white wash below, just as on the real deal. I really don't know why these aren't wildly popular in the scale modelling world.
