While away from my home stash, I decided to tackle this particular jet with the Academy kit as base with lots of Revell and Hasegawa kit bashed parts.

As the 1/72 Platz F-4EJ, which I wanted to use on this 1/72 scale kit bash, isn't gonna be released in the near future and as the Zoukei-Mura F-4E is softly announced for mid 2020, I'm changing my plans to build the Zoukei-Mura F-4E as an F-4F on static display and change the 1/72 kit bash into a flying display.

Suddenly FineMolds comes along with a F-4EJ (Kai) kit! Knowing FineMolds' reputation and strive for accuracy, I'm again altering this project to include the FineMolds F-4EJ as a base kit as the F-4F and F-4EJ are quite comparable. I will still use Revell's slatted outer wing panels and stabilators as those are the most visual differences.

Who other than FineMolds to surprise again with a dedicated F-4F kit complete with a redesigned wing and with the inclusion of the correct stabilators, negating all my previous kit bashing efforts. I’ll wait patiently for this kit to hit the shelves and after years of planning will build this kit OOB -ish….
