Hey Phil, this seems to be an interesting project. I won the mosquito kit once in a lotery but sold it. It looks great in unassambled condition - a lot of details, especially in the cockpit. I hope it fits like it looks.
5 July 2012, 19:10

it's just pitty you've chosen the wrong mosquito, there's big troubles with this revell one, wheelspars are too short
5 July 2012, 20:46

Thanks guys for your commence,
@Zimmy, thanks for the info about the wheelspars, I've have this kit in my stash and it's a pitty not used it 😉 the kit have nice details and a lot of details in the cockpit, I'll try to make the best of it,
Greetz Phil
6 July 2012, 07:11

Hey Phil! A dio is a good idea! You made a promising start, go on babe!
6 July 2012, 07:19

What scenery do you like to create? Pilots are heading to the plane to get airborne?
6 July 2012, 12:34

Hi Holger, the Idea was that they returns from a raid, but i just don't no yet, all the ideas are welcome 😉 and if somewone have nice pictures plaese post them on scalemates, greetz Phil
6 July 2012, 13:14

So so a secret project 🙂 maybe a slight battle damage at the mosquito.
6 July 2012, 15:57

This is what I would also suggest. The crew ( maybe wounded), returning from a mission with a dammaged plane. The challange would be that the mossie was built of wood 🙂
6 July 2012, 16:16

Hi Phil
I am sure you will make a great dio.I looked at your Spitfire, its a superb one!
6 July 2012, 17:43

Thanks guys for the ideas and the nice commence, a dammaged plane, I like it, I've got a little resurched to do 😉
@Markus, thanks for looking at Johny Johnson Spitfire, that was a lot of fun to built it, I'll hope that this one is just the same
Greetz Phil
6 July 2012, 17:56

Hi Phillip,
the Mossie is a wonderful kit!
I`ve built for 2 times the Mossie ( Nightfighter and the Bomber) from Tamiya and let me tell you, there are no significant assembling problems!
Only the assembling of the wing tips to the main wings is a little bit tricky. Don`t go the way of the construction. Glue the tips separate to the wing half's so you won`t be surprised!
The Austin is pretty well painted!
Wish you a steady hand and a lot of fun!
Greetz

6 July 2012, 20:25

Little progres of the nose section, have fun with the pictures, greetz Phil
9 July 2012, 19:54

Very well detailed cockpit out of the box. Nice paintjob so far.
9 July 2012, 20:35

This evening is the rear fuselage with the tail wheel on the agenda, slowly it comes together, friday evening begins the holiday for three weeks, I'll hope I can do some modelling the next weeks, greetz Phil
Thanks for your nice words mates 😉
10 July 2012, 05:52

There is progress on the Mosquito, here are some pictures from it, greetz Phil
16 July 2012, 20:37

Hi Phil, you damaged the rudder. Interesting method to build up the canvas.
17 July 2012, 05:58

This is somenthing that caused me headache for my Bf 109. I decided to do it with aluminium foil which will be perforated after painting the model.
17 July 2012, 06:00

Here are some new pictures from the Mossy with some color on, next will be a claer cote and the decals, then I can started with the chipping and finisch the small parts like spinners and wheels wheeldoors,
greetz Phil
22 July 2012, 08:40

Looks promising! Good job, Philip! Looking forward to your progress!
22 July 2012, 09:13

Hi Phil., it seems that the left landing gear had a breakdown 🙂 because the right gear is still visible and the left not. Also the propeller blades on the left are damaged 🙂 And the propeller on the left still run during touch down.
22 July 2012, 18:04

Thanks Christian and yes you are right, left landing gear breakdown and spinner damaged,
How is it with your project? is there any progress 😉
Greetz Phil
22 July 2012, 20:43

There is no progress yet. I am a little bit exhausted from work and started vacation now. I am not sure if I will get straight forewaerd with this project. I found a 120 mm figure that I get 15 years ago as a birthday gift. This is more a paint job but will allow me to practice my painting skills. Maybe I will proceed with this and put the 109 on hold. For the 109 is a lot of work to do besides building the model. For example tho get clear of the wing structure etc. I have to do some sketches first.
22 July 2012, 20:51

@Stefan, the nose section and the engines are not from wood, even the small wing elivators are not from wood, that plaeses need a little bit of chipping, the chipping wil be done with a little peece of a spons, but first the decals, there are almost done, greetz Phil
23 July 2012, 09:38

I really like how you do your cockpits! I am at a level where I can do the shading and the highlights but yours seem to have that realistic lived in look to them. Most go over the top with chipping, etc - you hold off at just the right amount. Thanks for showing!
23 July 2012, 11:59

Hi Phil!
Its coming along very nice! What colour have you used to prime the undersides?
23 July 2012, 12:02

Thanks C W and Holger for looking and your nice comments
@Holger, I've used the enamels colors 302 from Revell for the basic color and than the 9 from Revell for lightning them up,
23 July 2012, 15:13

Wow, Phil! It looks like a special car lacquer with metaleffects!!!
23 July 2012, 15:26

Thanks Markus and Holger for your nice words, I deffenetly keep up the good work 😉
greetz Phil
24 July 2012, 19:15

Looking good Philip, how will the dio' look when finished? or don't you know yourself yet?;)
25 July 2012, 13:57

@Holger, yes my friend, time stood not still 😉
@Steve, I have something in my mind, but how it will look when it's finished that depence on my pre-bill of the scenery, first I have go to the store for a second vehicle
Greetz Phil
25 July 2012, 14:25

Impressive Phil, and as Holly already pointed out, what a building pace you have ! I'm looking forward for the finished dio...
Are you working with sub-contractors ? 😉
25 July 2012, 16:13

@Wilfried, no, no sub-contractors 😉 this is simple a lot of fun, thats holiday for me, the wife is still at work so ...... 😉
@ Stafan, the Mossy is some where at the fields, that's the idea, i just get today the Bronco Staghound AA to give the Mossy protection while the RAF people get to recovered the plain, there is still a lot of work!
Greetz Phil
25 July 2012, 19:40

Hi Phillip,
I`m a bit jealous about your quick and perfect results!
Your battered Mossie reminds me to " Les petits hommes from Seron in the 70`s. There is a story called Mosquito 417 with also a battered Mossie!
Now I`ve realised that you have chosen the difficult Revell modell and not the Tamiya. Sry for my first posting here.
The lucky return of 333 is well painted and as I indicated earlier, your personal trademark is obviously! A very subtle paintjob, nice weathering effects and an amazing colour choice.
Greetz
Dirk
25 July 2012, 21:04

Thanks my friends for the nice comments, this meens really a lot for me, I love this side, I have never reed a negatief reaction on this side, every one is repected on his level of modelling, that's what this side makes great and plaesures
@Dirk, your serults are better then mine and even quick as mine 😉 don't be jaelous, I'm shore when you bring out your next finished project that I am jaelous 🙂 thanks for the nice words my friend
Greetz speedy Phil Gonzales 😉
26 July 2012, 07:18

You are right, Mr. Gonzales;)! Everyone is respecting the level of the others, doesnt matters whatt comes! Thats one of the reasons, i love to be among my mates, here!!!
26 July 2012, 07:51

Hi guys, I started with the base, these are a few pix from the pre-setting of the scenery, this will be the idea of my dio, there will be a second vehicle on the base, the Staghound AA from Bronco, this will be placed on the right side from the Mossi, there is still a lot of work but there is alreaddy a lot of work don, I love holidays, greetz Phil 😉
29 July 2012, 13:15

Hello Philip, i think that is going to be very good when finished, probably you are still working on the Mosquito, because i dont see the lights on the wings, dont forget to put them
! 🙂
29 July 2012, 13:27

@Vitor, I now vitor but the lights are for at last when I have giving the Mossi the final mat cote, thanks for reminding me 😉
@ Christian, thanks mate but you must have some patience my friend 😉
Greetz Phil
29 July 2012, 14:57

Yeah, Phil! The Dio is looking very good, so far! Love the battledamage!
30 July 2012, 06:42

There is a little progres on mine dio, the staghound A.A is almost build and ready for some paint, it is the staghound from Bronco, there are a lot of small parts and it take a lot of time to build this one, greetz Phil
29 August 2012, 17:26

@Markus, it will be not finished at that short time but on the convention at Lier in December I'll hope to get it on the contest table, there is still a lot of work on it, greetz Phil
29 August 2012, 18:39

Hi Philip, contest table? It'll surely be a winner. It already looks great now..., even not finished yet!
29 August 2012, 18:44

Phil, take your time!Iam looking forward to see it ,Mate. 🙂
29 August 2012, 19:18

Ooh, that`s a great idea!
I`ve never seen bevore a finished Staghound in scale 48!!
Great stuff!!
😛 😛 😛
Would you recommend this kit??
29 August 2012, 19:25

@Dirk, Yes Dirk it's a beauty this one, this is a great kit to build with a lot of details on it, there's even a small part of foto etch, the kit build easy but you must have pacient and take your time for it, there are a lot of little pieces, but still I recommended this kit, it's the best on his scale,
Thanks Frank, Markus and Acki for looking at it and for the nice comments,
greetz Phil
29 August 2012, 20:22

@Holger, thanks mate for the nice comment, I'm happy that you like it, this is fun all the time to make this dio, tonight is time to give the Staghound a layer of paint, yesterday evening I finished the build, I'll put some pictures on the net this evening from the endbuild 😉
@ Steffen, thanks for looking and your nice comment, it meens a lot to me 😉
greetz Phil
30 August 2012, 10:54

very promising !!
looking forward to see this at our show in december

30 August 2012, 14:20

@Jan
Could you tell me the source of your informations about the Tilly?
Why did Tamiya provide a decal sheme for RAF service if it is not fact?
That`s really a stupid error from Tamiya.
Greetz
Dirk
30 August 2012, 14:48

Hmm, may be this site could give some ideas about the Tilly schemes:
austin.tillyregister.com/
30 August 2012, 15:50

Staghound build is finished, I've put some figures on it to make it a little bit more attractive, now I can begin with the paintjob, greetz Phil
30 August 2012, 20:10

Looks nice. Who is the manufacturer of the figures? Are they part of the staghound kit?
30 August 2012, 20:12

Hi Christian, they are no part of the staghound, it is a set Englisch figures from tamiya, they look nice and with a little surgery comes everething nice together, greetz Phil
30 August 2012, 21:40

Philip, keep the Tilly on the dio , it looks great
some additional info about the Tilly
first take a look at the site in the respons from Frank, that's all basic info you want
seems that the Tilly was produced in severally factory's, resulting in slightly different versions, and the version Tamiya boxed never served with the RAF
But just after the war a RAF movie was made with that type of Tilly, so you could find some old pics (from the movie) with Mosquito's and the Tilly on an airfield
Dug this because i have the 1/35 Tilly that i also wanted to use in combination with a Tamiya Spitfire in 1/32,
Jan
31 August 2012, 07:56

@Jan, thanks mate for the info, I will keep it on the Dio 😉
Greetz Phil
31 August 2012, 09:59

Hi guys, look out for the paint on the Staghound, she is still wett, greetz Phil
1 September 2012, 20:09

Hi Phil looks very bright. Is this real or a result of taking the phot?
1 September 2012, 20:17

Hi Christian, the real it's darker, these is the result of taking the photo, but anyway get its darker when she gets her filters, greetz Phil
1 September 2012, 21:10

Hi Philip that is coming really nice, i look forward to see it finished. that little vehicle is something amazing, very well done.
2 September 2012, 10:49

Hi Vitor, I've just give the staghound a thin layer of Olive Drab from Hobby color, mix it 80% thinner and 20% of olive drab, this will bring the colors nicely together and makes the colors softer, pix will folow later, greetz Phil
2 September 2012, 10:57

Here can you see the result with a thin layer of Olive Drab, afther that I have give it a clear cote from revell, now you can see that the colors are much darker and smooth nicely together, ahther dry time will I apply the decals en seal these, greetz Phil
2 September 2012, 12:17

Wow, what a difference. Looks much better on the photo now.
2 September 2012, 14:00

Hi Stefan, the lifecolor is not that bad, the color nuances on this set is beautiful but you must build it up in several layers of coat, I wanted to try this new set of olivedrab and I'm sedisfited, but mine opinion is that the Mr color paint is mutch better, but hé that's mine opinion 😉
greetz Phil
2 September 2012, 16:41

The Staghound is almost finished, I can almost start with the figures, than I can build up the diorama, greetz Phil
6 September 2012, 20:24

Very nice Phil. Can´t wait to see it integrated on the base
7 September 2012, 16:24

7 September 2012, 18:38

Thanks guys for the nice words,I Started with the figures after the weekend, sunday its KMK Scale world convence, I'll hope to upgrade my stash with some new kits 😉 and meet some guys from scalemates
greetz Phil
7 September 2012, 21:48

I agree in all points with the previous postings and I can`t wait to see this diorama in Mol next Sunday! 🙂
8 September 2012, 07:30

@Dirk, I'm very sorry, but the Dio is not finished so it will be not at the table in Mol, I'll hope to get it on the contest table from BSMC Lier, I have to paint the figures from the staghound
After the figures must it come all together on the Dio and if there are open spaces than I have a brainstorm to fil these up, so there is still a lot to do,
Greetz Phil and see you tommorow 😉

Album info
Hi guys, this gonne be my larged project for this year, it's a diorama with several figures and I'm gonne try to make a nice scenery, dioramas are great, they tell you a little story but it is not that simple to make a nice one, last year I've make the spit of Johny Johnson Dio, I don't have a name for the next Dio so ideas are welcome, greetz Phil
