Der erste große Meilenstein ist geschafft: Der Motor mit seinen markanten Zylindern ist größtenteils fertig! Der mächtige V8 der Corvette C8, bekannt für seine 6,2 Liter Hubraum und satte 495 PS im Original, nimmt langsam Gestalt an. Noch ist es ein weiter Weg bis zur „Hochzeit“ – dem Moment, in dem das Triebwerk mit dem Chassis verbunden wird –, aber jeder kleine Fortschritt bringt mich näher ans Ziel.
Lackiert habe ich alles mit dem Pinsel – ausschließlich mit Aqua Color von Revell. Für größere Flächen habe ich die Farbe mit Aqua Mix verdünnt, um Pinselstriche so gut wie möglich zu vermeiden. Die Grundierung durfte natürlich nicht fehlen: Hier kam der Aqua Color Basic Primer zum Einsatz. Die Decals habe ich mit Decal Soft aufgebracht, damit sie sich schön an die Oberflächen anschmiegen. Und beim Kleben vertraue ich auf den Revell Contacta Professional, der sich bisher bestens bewährt hat.
Ich halte mich weitgehend an die Bauanleitung, aber natürlich braucht es bei den feinen Details auch eine ruhige Hand – und vor allem Geduld. Zwischendurch muss man sich wirklich daran erinnern, wieder zu atmen, wenn man an den kleinsten Fummelarbeiten sitzt! ? Aber das gehört dazu, und genau das macht für mich den Reiz am Modellbau aus.
Eins steht fest: Der Bau macht mega viel Spaß, und was ich besonders daran liebe – man kann dabei die täglichen Gedanken zur Seite legen. Sobald ich am Basteltisch sitze, ist der Kopf frei, der Stress verfliegt, und ich bin komplett in die Welt des Modellbaus eingetaucht. Einfach perfekt, um abzuschalten!

The first major milestone is complete: the engine with its distinctive cylinders is mostly finished! The mighty V8 of the Corvette C8, known for its 6.2-liter displacement and an impressive 495 horsepower in the real car, is slowly taking shape. There's still a long way to go until the "wedding" – the moment when the engine is mounted to the chassis – but every little step brings me closer to the finish line.
I painted everything by hand using only Revell Aqua Color. For larger surfaces, I thinned the paint with Aqua Mix to minimize visible brush strokes as much as possible. Of course, priming was a must: I used the Aqua Color Basic Primer for that. The decals were applied with Decal Soft to help them conform smoothly to the surface, and for assembly, I relied on Revell Contacta Professional, which has worked perfectly so far.
I’ve mostly followed the instructions, but of course, working on the finer details requires a steady hand – and above all, patience. Sometimes, you really have to remind yourself to breathe when working on tiny, delicate parts! ? But that’s all part of the process, and it’s exactly what I enjoy about model building.
One thing is for sure: building this kit is a blast! And what I especially love about it – it lets me push aside my daily thoughts. The moment I sit down at my workbench, my mind clears, stress fades away, and I’m fully immersed in the world of model making. It’s the perfect way to unwind!
