Re 2000 Smer old tool Upgrade.

I bought this cheap kit to try and upgrade it with some heavy scratchbuilding. I want to use as many original pieces as I can.
The parts look really rough on the sprues. This is not going to be easy. 

First stop is the engine cowling. I removed the extrmely ugly cowl flaps and drilled out al the intakes and gun ports. I started to add panellines.  

The engine parts are have a lot of flash. I added some detail with stretched spue and I also added this to the locating tap because this can be seen through the intakes. I wanted to make it look like a radiator. 

I filled the sink marks and added some more detail with stretched spue and styrene sheet. I painted the engine balck an gave a metallic drybrush to all parts. I used alluminium and brown paint for some detail painting. 

The cowling has all the panalk lines and intakes finished. I added styrine sheet to get the split intake on the real plane. This is also used on the added cowling and exhaust detail.
The gun barrals are made from stretched plastic tube. The exhaust isn't added yet and will be thinned. 

I painted the inside of the cawling interior green and added the engine in place. I used some more sheet to blank off the engine and intakes. After that I made some ner cowling flaps. This turned out better then expected. 

Some detail is added to the cowling flap area to simulate the exhaust system. Not much will be seen from this. The prop looks really bad. I hope I can fix this. 

The interior detail is very flat. I started this the seat and added a harness and seatbelts with styrine, masking tape and copper wire. 

I blanked off the air outlet at the front of the fuselage to make sure that you can't see light on the other side. The sidewalls of the re 2000 has many controls IRL. I added the detail based on some pictures but it's not realistic.
