Na, da bin ich mal gespannt.
Da kündigen sich größere chirurgische Eingriffe an ?!
Druckkörper sichtbar...?

very nice... the canning of the hull is done by scraping I presume, but how did you do the detail on the saddle tanks?
4 December 2015, 10:03

between the bolts I scraped with a knife.... the tanks were worked with a milling head in my dremel 🙂

... now waiting on some parts from WEM ...... Hope that these will be delivered soon .... 🙂

Nice barreling! Are you going to move anchor well forward or drill out drain holes?
9 December 2015, 00:06

Curious, how it will progress...... I´ve still got it in my stash....
Thumbs up!!
9 December 2015, 07:40

All holes will be opened... some drilled open, some replaced with photo etched parts.... the anchor will remain I think.
9 December 2015, 07:50

In my experience moving the anchor is quite an easy task. Replacing torpedo doors with PE parts proved to be more difficult. The challenge is to make the joint flush.

I think I will change the position of the anchor and also add some more of these fantastic rivets... maybe all rivets...🙂 These are by Archer Fine Transfers 🙂

Seems to be a dusty and time consuming work so far, but it was it worth. Looks really promising with the rough surface structure and all the PE parts.
Cheers, Christian

Thanks a lot Christian 🙂 Believe me, it was dusty... and I know much more funny things to do.... 🙂

Wow, excellent work on the steelskin texture, bow tubes and "water intakes" ! I didn`t even know these PE sets existed.
I´ve never seen the plating over the Diesel exhaust though, is this a late version speciality ?

Would be fine to get additional information about the building steps. Guess the last coat of paint is to check the seams along the PE parts and as a pre shading along the welding seams?!
Ah, by the way, nice work so far🙂

The light grey paint was made to get a light color as base for the black rivets and welding seams. A black primer is following on the full ship once the rivets and seams are done... as preshading. 🙂

Wow very nice progress. I'm not sure if I would trust to go out with the rusty sub for a further mission, but it looks much nice. Well done painting and weathering and excellent modelmaking!
Just one question, were the deck planked with wood gratings? I ask because I thought they're steel?!
TIA for your feedback
Christian
8 February 2016, 18:26

Hi Christian. Yes, the decks were made of wood .... 🙂
9 February 2016, 08:12

Moin Micha, sehe ich richtig das Du das Boot im aufgetauchten Zustand baust?
9 February 2016, 09:13

Hi Micha, ok did not know that before, thx for letting me know🙂
9 February 2016, 20:15

9 February 2016, 20:50

You can`t squeeze more out of this kit, outstanding work, never seen anything like it.
11 March 2016, 17:33

This is really outstanding, congrats Micha for such a masterpiece!
11 March 2016, 17:54

Yep, now I gotta try building one, I know mine won't look anywhere near this good.
19 March 2016, 21:49

What can I say but, EXCELLENT job. A very impressive Submarine.
