Thanks guys! I am pretty excited with these results. I might even have to move this project up in my queue a bit. Pretty pumped to do this project!

I actually wrote it in my Project comments, but I will put it here too so it is easier for all to find since this album has it's separate comments:
So I decided to experiment with the nail polish and an extra P-51 canopy that came in the Tamiya P-51 kit I just completed. I would say it was a success! Put some regular Laquer Thinner (Hardware store bought) in a cleaned, empty gunze paint bottle (about 1/2 full). I then took the polish brush and dabbed polish into the bottle until I had what looked like a nice mix. I then shook it up, and put some in my airbrush and sprayed INSIDE the canopy. I put in two coats to get the results that are in the album attached to this project. You could go darker if necessary, but two coats looks just right to my eye, and still able to see inside quite well!

Interesting. And the lacquer thinner had no adverse effect on the canopy plastic? That sounds good. Thanks, Gary 🙂

None at all. I think that is because I sprayed light coats and it was dry almost instantly. The inside is slightly dull, so I might try to dip the canopy in future and see if that glosses it right back up (my guess is it will). The outside is obviously the same as it was since I only sprayed the inside.

The nail polish is "Born Pretty #212". Bought it on eBay for 75 cents shipped to the US from China! I can't imagine the seller made very much on that sale LOL.

I will definitely try it in the (near) future

i see the surprise of some Chinese guy when a dozen of man all suddenly ask for Born pretty 212.... they may think is a new fashion 😄

Haha Spanjaard! Although, it is better to buy it under the anonymity of the internet, as opposed to walking into a drug store or cosmetics shop and plopping that bad boy down on the counter. Or ever worse, having to ask the pretty cashier where their "Born Pretty" polish is. LOL

Hi Michael, thx for your explanatiion. I also imagine the faces of the Chinese or the seller in the shop. 👍 😄

I have a "nail polish addiction" now too! i just stocked up on 6 different versions of the Born Pretty range.
I can see it being used on everything from a F-22, F-35, EA-6B and so on and some of the other colors might end up on some custom cars or sci-fi projects too! All brought over the internet to protect my masculinity of course! But i did buy some cool pearl blue and orange colors at Target the other day but with my girlfriend with me! 🙂 Just wait till Tamiya gets onto this then you'll pay $25 a bottle!
