PBY-5 Wolfpack 1/72

May 8, 2021Finished with salt weathering, diluted white and black.2
May 8, 2021My 1/72 shelf - I have a thing for planes that float.3
May 8, 2021After sealing the decals (gloss to help with silvering, then dull coat to keep the water from running off)
Wet the plane (RO or Distilled water), put on Kosher rock salt. Let dry.4
May 8, 2021Now hit it with highly diluted acrylic white. Let dry. Remove salt.
Re-apply salt (as above). Let dry.
Now hit it with a highly diluted acrylic black. Let dry. Remove salt.
Wipe down with microfiber (you can do this between white and black colors but I didn't).
Final sealing? Depends on how you feel about your layers of lacquer and acrylic.5
May 8, 2021Some details of the underwing. I felt challenged to get the wing and the 4 struts aligned. The mold was perfect, however, the "engineering" was a challenge. I ended up doing tape and a lot of eyeballing to give myself the confidence that the struts were the right size. I also knew that between my files, snips, and Milliput I could probably put things right if the wing was aligned on the pylon.6
May 8, 2021Beaching gear bits.7
May 8, 2021How I do any frameless windows in 1/72. Works great!8
