The instructions showed two ways for this markings. Either the RAF-Insignia or the 'Iron Maiden'-markings. I am no fan of Heavy Metal, but I always liked 'The Who'. So I wanted the RAF-Insignias as well.
I had to replace the fasteners of the Engine-cowlings. The ones the kit came along with looked loke bolts!!!!So I had some work to do. Not perfect, but.....
To be honest, I am no fan of Heavy Metal and I don't know much about it, but a friend of mine is. The Revell Iron Maiden Spitfire in 1:32 Scale is a present for him. The Plane is finished in a very 'worn' look. I saw a picture of Iron Maidens Eddie sitting in his Spitfire and the paints looked pretty damaged. According to that picture I made a lot of stretches and weathered it very rough. I call it 'comic-style'. It's just for fun and not a serious project. The propeller, for example, has a lot of stretches-I wouldn't do it this way if it was a real 'Battle of Britain'-Spitfire! I used Eduard PE-Parts and wheels. The exhausts are from Quickboost. The Kit itself is a little bit confusing, for it contains a Mk.V propeller ,for example, and other disappointments like a non-fitting canopy.The Eduard Parts are really useful if you build this kit.But on the other hand, the figures are very good, the faces looked like Eddie! The decals were also very good and easy to use. I didn't follow the instructions when I applied them. I found it useless, to have a decal of 'Iron Maiden'which can't be seen if you build the cockpit-door open. So I changed the position of the 'Iron Maiden'-markings. This proved to be a big mistake! Later I saw some other pictures of the 'original' Spitfire and I realised that I was wrong-but it was too late to change!
