Push rods made from .020 round stock. Plug wire holes drilled in heads and ready for installation of .015 copper wire. I will work backwards by gluing wire into the heads then gluing to the ignition ring. The ring is attached to the hub and not a separate piece so this will be the easiest. Some say it's too much trouble for a 1/48 kit but it will look good once finished, IMHO.

Cockpit has Eduard A6M2 steel seatbelts and KitsWorld 3D decals. Not terribly satisfied with the KitsWorld decals, they are accurate but the kit has ZERO instructions for correct placement. That's not bad, it's just a nuisance. I've since used Quinta Studios 3D decals and Eduard SPACE kits with 3D decals.

First coat of IJN Ash Gray revealed two mold lines that I did not see with just the gray primer. So, some Vallejo Plastic Putty was applied and will need to be sanded. I'm seeing a lot of small mistakes that I've made here and there & they add up. Being that this is my first aircraft model in a LONG time, I'm still fairly happy. I have learned a lot with this kit that I will definitely apply on my future builds! It's been a BIG learning curve!

Camouflage completed. The paint is meant to look like a "field camo" job. I started out airbrushing it, but it looked too "clean"..so I hand brushed it. Hopefully once it is weathered and finished, it will retain the look I'm hoping for.

I am currently at a halt on the kit. The original decals looked great on the paper BUT as I was transferring the first "meatballs" to the wing tops, they began to flake apart. So, now I'm looking at a couple of different decal sets that will fit the bill for this "island based fighter".

Finally got a wild hair and finished it up. It is in NO WAY a "correct" paint scheme and the markings are just the stock decals from the kit. It was a decent enough build, I learned a LOT after a 35 year hiatus. I have a 1/48 Hasegawa Hawker Hurricane Mk. IIc in the bench right now that will definitely be a better build. Thanks to all who've liked this and commented along the way! It's truly appreciated!
