Assembly Ships of the Mighty 8th

Collection of all documented Assembly and most of the associated Formation Monitors. The colourful Assembly Ships were used by the 8th US Air Force in England to assemble large bomber groups before crossing the Channel much like a shepherd rounding up his flock of sheep. Formation Monitors were looking for stray bombers unable to find their assembly point and led them back to the flock, much like a sheepdog. This project was initiated by the late Rolf Neukom who also contributed most of the models.
