I think we're in for a treat again... nice details in the cockpit...

Another great build so far Ronan. You're painting skills are amazing!
I'm in a front row seat and following this one with interest 🙂

Thank you for these nice comments. The skids were the harder point of the model, it was quite diffficult to get the right size and the good shape but i'm quite proud of the result🙂

The snow shoes are made from different styrene parts ( Evergreen ), i can scan you the drawings if you want 🙂
30 September 2016, 15:27

I use my personnal photographs, photos from various websites, books, everything that give me a detail

What an fantastic build, Ronan. Absolutley gorgeous Detailwork and -paint. WOW!

Thanks for your offer. That would be nice. If this is not a problem for you, I would take the scan of the snow shoes. Perhaps I can use them for the Austrian Black Hawk.

When it comes to helicopter modelling in 1/72 you are the reference full stop!
Since your scratchbuild parts are so cleanly made - how do you treat them? What tools do you use? And how do you realize the painting of smallest parts like the buttons on the cockpit screens? So many questions... 🙂
3 October 2016, 09:34

Thank you mates for your nice comments.
@ Dietmar : look at the picture 19, it's the snow shoes drawing 🙂
I used : 0,3 mm plasticard for the plates and 1,7 mm plasticard for the vertical sides. Then surfacer 500 on the external sides, and sanding ...
It asked me two weeks to make the first skid and one day do make the second : the shape in mind, it's quicker 🙂
@Ice : i use probably the same tools than you, no secret tool 🙂 the buttons in the cockpit are made free and with a very fine pencil ( Da vinci 1 size )
and for the angles i use a light gray watercolor pen. I should write a book ?
3 October 2016, 16:41

Yeah, you definitely should write a book! Those details are great! 😄
3 October 2016, 17:34

Yes! A "How to scratch-build" book by Ronan would be awesome! 👍 Found nothing so far that describes the actual planning and crafting of scratch parts.
3 October 2016, 21:59

a book, neh that is so passée... 😉, but it would be tempting... nice thing with the feet on the snowshoes....
4 October 2016, 07:17

I will try to do a topic step by step : " how to build snow shoes " 🙂
4 October 2016, 18:41

I fell out of my chair. That is absolutely amazing. Such detail for that scale. Bravo!

Hi Ronan, I find this very impresive work as a beautiful Artwork. I've been very absent for a long time anr retaking the scale activities I found your work has many others of you projects like a deep inspiration! Lookin very impresive really!. Keep working on it!!
6 October 2016, 14:16

Thank you all !!!...
@Marc : it's a pleasure to be inspiration source for you 🙂
I have so many projects in mind ... the next will probably be the EC225, a big transformation of the Italeri Cougar with aditionnal fuel tanks 🙂
8 October 2016, 10:20

So many painted details. Even tiny screws are a combination of highlight an shadow. Awesome!
9 October 2016, 07:19

nice paintjob... I love the playing with colors, like the grey, drybrush and black wash.... Do you paint the highlighted details manually then?
10 October 2016, 07:43

Yes i paint the highlighted details manually with a 2/0 brush. it's a bit long but the result is nice 🙂 the 50 shades of Grey ....
10 October 2016, 13:49

An absolutely outstanding Paintjob, great work. Modelling at it's best, Chapeau
10 October 2016, 18:10

great... has the model become paler than in the previous pictures? or has the lighting changed?
12 October 2016, 07:01

Thank you mates.
Of course the lightning has changed, not the model colour ):
12 October 2016, 12:25

Absolutely beautiful and on a level I will never be able to achieve! But... on the lower cockpit glazing there is some bleed through of paint onto the window panes. Just as a tip!
14 October 2016, 05:17

Wow, It really seems to be a bigger scale! Excellent paint job!
14 October 2016, 17:34

Many thanks mates 🙂
@ Hagel: the model is not finished. I will correct the paining mistakes, don't worry. I have so much details to do before the end...
14 October 2016, 18:40
