The Panzer I was a light tank/tankette produced in Nazi Germany in the 1930s. Its name is short for Panzerkampfwagen I (German for "armored fighting vehicle mark I"), abbreviated as PzKpfw I. The tank's official German ordnance inventory designation was Sd.Kfz. 101 ("special purpose vehicle 101")* [from Wikipedia]
The kit is a small simple kit made by ESCI, released in 1994; kit number 8024. I finished the kit with Vallejo Panzer dark grey (71.056); weathered with AK European Earth (AK042) and fixer (AK048). Guns are painted with Vallejo Gun metal (70.863) and muffler is Mission Model Paints standard rust (MMW-05). Additional weathering is done with Fuel Stains by AK (AK025).
While the kit comes with vinyl tracks that required some heating with a heat gun to stretch them to fit and where they meet I used superglue to fasten them together. Track were painted flat black, cover with a rust wash, and then the earth pigment.
The decals that came with the kit were replaced with a spare set I had, even then I went through several decals before I obtained what is shown.
With the use of a Prang #35 silver pencil I added some highlights. Overall, the kit was finished with a flat Vallejo varnish (62.062).
This is a quick easy build, but you have to take your time on the tracks.
