Morane-Saulnier MS 406 C-1

Sprue Shot. The plan is just straight up building it (emptying my mountain of doom) and makes few adjustments like fixing the horizontal stabilizer and exhausts. 

Quick Cockpit build and borrowed Academy's Tomahawk IIb seat that I have for spare. I guess Mr.Slenderman from Academy Mirage IIIC will finally join the fray on this equally (?) notorious kit. 

Drilled the Exhausts with 0.45mm drill. 

Primed with Flat Black and painted the interior with Tamiya XF-18. Also assembled the gear bay first, it doesn't have any locating pin mark and requires some fitting and sanding for it. 

OOB decals, it is bad by it own but I will try to use it. I have tested it and it somewhat salvageable. 

Instrument panel accuracy is terrible and nowhere near the real thing.

Cockpit done, added my spare Academy Tomahawk IIb cushion seat so it won't look too bare. Some has it fitted in real life. 

 

Dry fitting it. I have reservations about the vertical stabilizer as it shouldn't be flat top, I decided to ignore this. 

 

Comparison with Tamiya D.520 pilot with whatever this monstrosity molded being. 

fuselage assembled, not yet joint with the wing. It does have issue on the fit between the two. It doesn't fit perfectly as there are some holes that light can seep through.

The end result, I followed the scheme same as the Tamiya D.520 for paint mixing. I am quite disappointed on the green color as it seems to be awfully off...

I tried to use the box decals, as you can see it is rightfully described as atrocious, horrible accuracy, and sloppy register. (Spoiler alert, I screwed up this roundel where it is supposed to be on the fuselage side, not upper wingtip) 

To my dismay due to my negligence, I decided to just delete the roundel and look forward on painting it instead. This issue and off mark painting kinda put down my moc (The instructions aren't really clear as well, If you don't wear your glasses you will most likely screw up) 

 

I repainted some parts to either hide the decal or give off some better finish. the rest of the decal is FUBAR (underside number and French flag for Vert. Stabilizer. I wouldn't expect much in this already bad kit, but I'll try what I can do. 

Custom decal has arrived and thankfully fixed most of the woes. Rudder French flag is painted with Mr.Color Sky Blue, Flat White, and Red. Trust me, the kit decal is 90% unusable.

It is finally finished! For accurate MS.406, I should try the Dora Wings offering. Though quite expensive.
