Count me in, Veli-Matti!
I have this one in my stash, too.
You are doing the modified german version, right?

Thanks for watching Dave and Ulf. I´m doing a tank of 29. Dragoon regiment in 1940. I still have one of these beauties in my stash as well as germanised commanders cupola so I might build one panzer grey Somua in the future...

Nice Work, the Tamiya kit looks like a real beauty. Not really a fan of the new hatches, but the antenna mounts look fantastic.

Thanks Fabian. Tamiya kit is a real beauty. Straight from the box it goes together almost in one night. What´s wrong with the hatches? 🙂

I´m not really an expert on the Somua, but did some research while building the Heller kit. I´ve never seen that prominent casting numbers on the engine accsess hatches. (I´m not saying they´re wrong, but I´ve never seen them like that.) They are hard to spot even on the real thing, probably impossible in 1:35. Took these shots in Bovington few years back: Casting numbers on the engine accsess hatches, both right side:

The only ones you could probably see are the ones on the hull: (Left side, below the divivers vision port and right side behind the last stowage bin.)

Thanks for looking Rui. At least one more french version coming up before possible germanised one.😉 Thank you for the pictures Fabian. I think I´m going to sand down those cast numbers a bit.

For the black lines on my Char B1 bis I used a Acrylic paint marker from Molotow (German brand) They have them with 2mm and 1mm tips. My experience is that they work like a dream.

Thanks for the tip Lex. I got to see if I can find those markers somewhere. Stay tuned Roberto.😉

In the Netherlands the better assorted Art stores sell the Molotow markers.

Thanks Bart. I hope weathering will cover little mishaps in paintjob.

The camouflage and lines looking good. What did you finaly used for the lines?
7 June 2016, 18:28

Thanks Lex. I ended up using paint, fine brush and not so steady hands. 😄 Got to keep in mind those Molotow markers you mentioned for future french projects. 🙂

Looking really nice so far mate! I've got it as well but haven't gotten to start building it yet. But one question to all that know more about the Souma than I do. What's the deal with the clear round window at the bottom of the hull? Is it to see if the ground is still there or what?
7 June 2016, 20:39

Thanks Mike and Urban. If I remember correctly a conversation I once saw in some forum that window is really not a window. Tamiya has just provided clear part for some reason.
8 June 2016, 02:54

Thanks mate! Strange that they've done it but mysterious is the way of Tamiya's reasoning...
8 June 2016, 11:10

Thanks Ulf. No problem Urban, though I´m not sure if I´m right or not about that window.
