Good to see you back on the hustings Augie. 👍 🙂
Looking for updates now. hehehehe 🙂
21 June 2017, 07:39

I'm considering of hiring you as a sub-contractor, build models myself, ship them over to you for paint works, you send them back and I finish them...
21 June 2017, 07:50

Thanks guys an girl.
Dont get ideas willy and kerry, I have enough of my own to do without others lol!
21 June 2017, 17:56

Thats unbelievable ,Augie.....this finish with a brush....top👍
22 June 2017, 04:12

Lol true Kerry 🙂 still amazes me i get this reaction.
Thanks markus 🙂

The world renown Augie just keeps on being the master of her art. 👍
As always Aug's, I salute and admire all you do. 🙂 👍
Cheers. 🙂
9 July 2017, 01:18

I think this will be not possible to create such a realistic weathered finish with a airbrush. Excellent result Augie!
9 July 2017, 16:29

I agree with Bernhard! And excellent work adding all the worn effects. Very very nice 👍
9 July 2017, 18:11

I agree with the mates - the weathering is fantastic. Can you share which AK Interactive set you used?
10 July 2017, 14:09

Hi Alec, I used some of the light and dark slime effect, some moss effect, a little winter and dark streaking then dark earth pigment..
10 July 2017, 19:06

ice Aug's where have you been hiding this one? I missed it totally.
10 July 2017, 20:42

That looks great!
-AK Interactive eh? Haven't tried their products. Looking at this, I might have to change that!
:-o
11 July 2017, 02:11

Augie, It would look great sitting in a desert diorama complete with flat tires and a couple of parts missing. Don't forget the canopy would look very dirty and even frosted (or yellowed) if it sat around outside in this condition! 🙂
11 July 2017, 05:11

Thanks guys,
Glenn, She's gonna sit on a rough ground setting with bushes an scrub.
The canopy I have to start on, just trying to think of best way to yellow/frost it.
still lots too do on this before I call it
11 July 2017, 17:57

A mix with clear orange (not much at all) and floor polish that you dip the canopy in. Then repeated thin washes with buff on top of it, even better if you can mist the buff with an airbrush.
11 July 2017, 18:10

Please do that mate! I've not tried it myself but I think that it'll work.
11 July 2017, 18:17

Urban. I should imagine that the dipping I a thin solution as you described would also be applicable for that 'gold' look on the astronauts visor. ? maybe. ???
11 July 2017, 19:37

Augie Matt varnish should frost it along with a small amout of clear yellow added to it. Try it out on some scrap clear plastic. Dare i say thin liquid glue would also "frost" it nicely from the inside maybe even nail polish remover!!!! That would sure give it a stuffed look! But BE CAREFUL!!!
12 July 2017, 00:18

I was thinking that giving the canopy a light rub (from the inside) with some wet n dry sandpaper (while wet!) with at least 1200 or higher number then a light buff with a polishing rag but not enough to fully restore full clarity will also work then spray a thinned down clear yellow and orange and even smoke tint over the entire surface! Depends how baked you want it to look? I know Augie doesn't spray paint, Might be a bit harder to drag the old hairy stick over it! I would try it out on an old CD case first! 🙂
12 July 2017, 02:44

Looking forward to seeing the end result. Good tip Glen using old CD cases for practice
12 July 2017, 19:53

A little further work, trying to get some actual texture and moss on it.
14 July 2017, 21:47

👍 👍 But I was wondering how you are going to deal with the markings, can you apply decals on all this "filth"? 🙂
15 July 2017, 07:30

thanks guys, 🙂
willy, no markings on this one, i've seen many with out any markings on
15 July 2017, 09:13

I should do this to all my failures. LOL
Just gunk them out and call them, "As seen in a junk pile". 🙂
15 July 2017, 13:06

Lol 🙂 well its one way of dealing with them, this one has taken longer than I care to think about to be honest and I new find myself staring at moss and growth on anything to see how it patterns out
15 July 2017, 13:23

😮 It really looks like it has gone through a few Siberian winters! 👍
15 July 2017, 15:17

Are there any gardening shops near by Augie.?
As usually there will be some really fine mosses and ferns and even fungi that could be applicable.👍
BTW, I did not think that what you were doing was finding something to do with a kit that had not turned out so well, as I do believe your better than most at getting great results. 🙂
It was just a silly thought that went through my head about what I could do with some of my "woops!" that had seen better times. 👍 🙂
15 July 2017, 17:23

Thanks Kerry 🙂 I have looked at some gardening shops but scale always seems to be off
15 July 2017, 17:36

Wow, Augie! Now that is what I call top notch work. You can be proud of your work. It deserves front row billing on your display shelf. In fact, you ought to do a how-to article for Scalemates or some other modeling forum, such as Britmodeler, ARC Galleries, etc...
16 July 2017, 11:28

Thank you Dutch!, I'm a little overwhelmed to be honest its my first for this sort of weathering so was not expecting such result.
16 July 2017, 11:59

Yes definately Dutch. You obviously have a good eye for this sort of attention to detail Augie. Keeep it up.
16 July 2017, 12:25

So, as this was an experiment in weathering, I may have gone over the top as I have done some more to it
3 September 2018, 20:47

Too much water this time Augie. :-O
You do have some manicure scissors I hope. ?
But I think the Mig looks great. !
😉 👍 A top result mate.
3 September 2018, 23:14

Very nice !!!!!!! How did you do the weathering, as seen on 6th pic ?
4 September 2018, 02:41

I think i meant grouse, you know the word meaning yucky! But fingers type before brain process words.... A bit like mouth say before brain think. No self editing mechanism! 🙁 But it will look nice in the bottom of a fishtank! 🙂
4 September 2018, 02:42

Grose means uuuug.🙁 But Grouse means fantastic. 🙂 And the fish tank comment...........hahahaha Most apt. ! 😉
4 September 2018, 05:36

Yea the "Grose" one Kerry! I should of just said uuuuuug!!!!!!!!!!!! like a caveman. 🙂
4 September 2018, 05:43

Newsflash, the Great Barrier Reef is disappearing rapidly. Recently it has been spotted in good condition on a shelf of an extremely rare female modeller, somewhere in the UK. Nice job btw Augie 👍
4 September 2018, 06:58

Yea, I was going to say it now looks very very old.... Like something from the Mig dynasty. But that would only be funny if it was a Chinese made copy.
4 September 2018, 07:30

Wow thanks guys glad you like 🙂
@Florent, that was dirt pigment spread direct onto the metal finished and rubbed in with soft brush.
4 September 2018, 12:13

Ah hah. That explains it beautifully. 👍
Here I was thinking it was actually moss. !!! :-O
4 September 2018, 12:29

She looks fantastic, you've done a really nice job at turning her into an old relic.👍👍👍
4 September 2018, 13:12

Lol Kerry, that was more how the finish in pic 6 was achieved.. the rest is pigment and bits with a wash or two to fix to make it moss like..
Thanks Michael 😄
4 September 2018, 13:14

Your one hell of a modeller Augie. 👍 🙂 🙂 Not afraid to take risks. Salute. ! 👍
4 September 2018, 21:45

Lol thanks Kerry, I think sometimes you just need to try things else how will you know. I think its alright, i Just need to try a dio for 🙂
4 September 2018, 22:29

I think it is neat. I have one more stealth build going before I go under the Knife next Friday.
5 September 2018, 23:15

KNIFE. ? Ee gads superman. ! But all will be good I am sure mate. My prayers are for your quick repair. 😉 👍 👍
5 September 2018, 23:18

Yes, Cliff, our prayers will attend as well. R/ Dutch & the Dutchess sends.😎
5 September 2018, 23:34

Augie that looks disgusting! But i like it! Maybe you could have got the same effect from just sitting it in the toilet for 6 months after eating loads of spinach! 😮
6 September 2018, 18:27

Sorry! 😮 but it does look kinda good just in a bad way! I wouldn't have the guts to do this to any model i built unless it was a real dog of a kit. Well maybe my Unicraft kits might end up like this!
6 September 2018, 19:03

Lol its cool Glenn, Glad it looks the way I hoped.
This kit was a mutt so it was either loose will or do something else with it
6 September 2018, 19:44

Yes Augie, it's an F-18. The decals stink, they crack and rip very easy. I'm having a heck of a time getting them on. Will be a lot of touch up painting. LOL.
7 September 2018, 22:13

Kerry, I think in this case the saying "You can't polish a turd" might be more the case! Than the sow's ear! But somehow Augie did kinda! 🙂
10 September 2018, 05:35

But Mythbusters did in fact debunk that by actually polish a turd...
10 September 2018, 09:13

Holy S#it! There's a new hobby if we run out of kits! O.K. looks like I'm safe for now! But i do have some Unicraft kits to polish! 🙂
