Well, take a seat here too! Cheers and have fun! Meanwhile I'll enjoy the show.

Welcome folks! Pluggin' Along. Pit and fwd Fuselage mostly done. Just need to tidy some panel lines then it should GTG. Have the aft Fuselage assembled with intake trunks installed as well.....

I'm taking a swivel chair to be closely monitoring this one and Michael Phillips' one.
19 July 2018, 14:24

Oh a duel between @David Barclay and @Michael Phillips. Well worth watching.
19 July 2018, 15:31

Looking saweeeet David! It appears you are several steps ahead of me so far, but I am catching up!!!! 🙂
BTW looking at pics of yours and mine made me realize I forgot to install the canopy actuator. Doh!
19 July 2018, 17:51

Alright! The other half of the build. Looks like it should be good. Nice progress so far.
20 July 2018, 04:04

I've got some weird Hawaiian popcorn I'd be happy to share lol
27 July 2018, 08:43

I love the marbling, although I don't think much will show up if you use those big decals. Or are you gonna spray that digital camo? 😉 I'm in for Doritos too! 🙂
27 July 2018, 13:43

@ Spanjaard.... Well I think rightly so! Hahahah @ Patrick... Yea I'm using decals.... From what I can tell from photo's, The plane that was used had a fairly worn/faded paintjob. Only the newly applied digi camo looks fresh..... So I think it will look fine.... In any case... it's good practice LOL
27 July 2018, 14:52

Moving right along David! Preshade looks great, looking forward to more pics.
28 July 2018, 05:13

Yea the stencils are coming a long but what a mojo killer! @ Donald. The camo decals work real well. Not as bad as I was expecting to be. And way more fun to do than these stencils lol
3 August 2018, 12:12

I can't escape the feeling that the decals look quite dark blue compared to the mid/dark grey in the original picture.
3 August 2018, 14:03

The original picture is by a mediocre model builder. Picture 25 is of the actual plane 😉
3 August 2018, 14:25

Yea Patrick the Dark color of the decals is a bit too dark, but it is what it is..... Now Martin? Please explain your analogy?? I don't understand what u mean??
3 August 2018, 15:42

Patrick said the decal is too blue compared to your project picture. I meant to say that your model is the right colour and the plane in your project picture was wrong (the real plane that is). Consider it a compliment to your skills 👍
3 August 2018, 16:20

feel for you David with that much decals, looking forward for the end result. 👍
3 August 2018, 17:35

Lookin' very nice David! Those JASDF Eagles are stencil monsters... I can definitely feel your pain there!
3 August 2018, 18:05

Thanks Michael, Murad and thanks Martin for the clarification..... And now back to stencils!
3 August 2018, 23:20

K .... Stencils are done and the whole model has a layer of Mr Color Semi-Gloss clear. And some Flory Dark Dirt was applied....
12 August 2018, 02:53

Nice! She is coming along nicely now! Looks like you and I are at the exact same point right now. Super cool!
13 August 2018, 16:32

Thank ya Michael and Glenn! Plugging along with the little bits. Landing gear, Fuel Tank/Pylons. Not sure if I will hang weaps on it or not... And test fitted the nozzles
17 August 2018, 02:39

To be honest, If it wears a special scheme i prefer them au naturel or very little to cover them up! It looks wrong to load them up with too many distractions! 🙂
17 August 2018, 02:58

I hear ya Glenn! I've really only seen pics of this plane with a centerline tank. So that may be all I do
17 August 2018, 03:05

Exactly! David I think If it has some great scheme (all over) why hide it with too many drop tanks bombs and missiles! Then you can't see some of the great paintwork or artwork! Save the weapons for normal service jets! Then it adds to the appeal of those aircraft but be realistic with load outs too. Unless your posing it like at some airshows fully loaded!
17 August 2018, 03:10

Nice Progress David! I am hoping to finish up this weekend, any chance you will as well?
Also, your pictures elicited two audible "Doh!"s from me... First, looking at your gear bay doors made me realize I forgot to paint the inside of mine tonight while I had the white paint in my airbrush to paint the landing gear and wheel hubs.
The other is when I saw your exhausts. I forgot to paint that little panel of painted area that goes into the bare metal area. That is going to be a pain in the rear to do now! LOL
17 August 2018, 03:48

That's the good part of building the exact same kit! One can see each others mistakes and solutions.
I concur with Glenn, most aircraft don't carry that much ordinance during peace time training flights or doing airshow flights. And that's nice to show off the natural sleek lines and special paint jobs. Only during high intensity conflicts would aircraft be loaded out to the brim, then they would need the tanks to get to the target area or have additional loitering time calculated in and would be actually toting the weapons prone to be expended. In most of the times a captive round of some sort with the odd gas bag would be more realistic.
17 August 2018, 15:11

Thanks Patrick and Michael! Yea I'm only gonna do a centerline tank... I want this build over with! LOL Sorry Michael about your doh's! ur right that metal bit is gonna be a pain in the rump! Will I finish this weekend? I'm damn near done now!All I have to do yet is paint the wheels.... and mount the wing pylons and the Canopy in the open position. Gear, missile ejectors, antenna's, Pitots / Sensors and the centerline ar mounted. I may be done by the time you get to the bench tonight! LOL Ihope anyways!
17 August 2018, 16:58

She's got Legs! On the home streatch. After the wheels set up just need to fit the canopy!
18 August 2018, 10:28

Thanks Timothy!
Well I think it's done! Lemme clear the bench. Then I'll take some completed shots.
