So as progress has been going.. quick updates, I may even remember to do them as I go lol.
9 February 2019, 00:17

Interesting looking plane. One I know little about. Looking good. 🙂
10 February 2019, 00:00

So donks are done looking about ready to seal the fuselage together. Its an odd ball shape and is actually remarkably big for an aircraft of its age
12 February 2019, 19:44

You can do it. You seem to be the master of NMF's with zee old hairy stick. LOL. or wax.
14 February 2019, 02:13

So rudder started with paint to see how they react on the airfix plastic.
15 February 2019, 23:03

Oh. ! Oh.! Oh,! You are full of surprises mate. :-O
The 'dry' brushing (assuming) in the cockpit area is stunning.
I always have to close my mouth with my fist after I see your paint work. 👍
Just amazing talent mate. 👍 SALUTE. 😉
16 February 2019, 01:52

Thanks Michael, its a nice kit so i hope to do do something special
16 February 2019, 03:28

Wow that is a massive & lovely build so far. I'd love to have seen that one go on full power! I'm going to go stare at mine in the box now...
16 February 2019, 04:38

Further progress, starting on the HUGE wing, largest I have done in this way.
16 February 2019, 21:55

Massive looking wing! And brush painted? Great job as usual, augie!
16 February 2019, 22:51

Simply amazing Augie. What do you use for NMF finishes?, I for the life of me cannot remember. I know you told me once.
16 February 2019, 22:52

Heheh thanks playtime, this one is quick for me, but its a good kit that does not need too much work to make fit.
Thanks Gordon, I think the wing is bigger than my su-27..
Clifford, I use Treasure silver wax gilt for my NMF finishes. I am going to be trying some of the AK true metal in places to try and break up the tones into something more fitting a worn airframe.
16 February 2019, 22:58

I will have to try and find that here. I have seen that the AK true metal paints are good. You can brush them on or even rub them on. To bad you can't airbrush them. LOL. I got all the decals on the ME-410, so hope to finish it tomorrow or Monday. Also started re-scribing the P-61.
16 February 2019, 23:03

Cool🙂 its worth trying, makes it sooo easy .
Look forward to seeing both 🙂
16 February 2019, 23:27

There are pictures of the 410 up on the site, guess you just missed it. LOL.
17 February 2019, 01:33

Yeah I missed it will look now.. and the true metal stuff can but when buffed can be too shiny
17 February 2019, 01:34

Well that's not good. I am going to use MM buffing aluminum on my Mirage III, we will see how that works. But I guess I am finally going to have to bite the bullet and try The AK extreme metals and good old alclad II, but I have heard lots of horror stories about Alclad's.
17 February 2019, 01:55

me too hence the wax i use. and trying it in combination with the ak stuff
17 February 2019, 02:12

All you need now Augie is a scale figure of "Flesh Gordon" and all will be complete. 😉 hehehehe 👍
17 February 2019, 02:53

I remember you mentioned that wax before. I might give it a try as it looks really good on this one!
17 February 2019, 06:55

Augie. Are you referring to the AK interactive wax paints from the tubes of metal colour. ? As I LOVE that stuff. Works like a charm with the 'dry brush' technique. 😉
17 February 2019, 11:57

Heyy kezza, The base I use is treasure silver which is different. I do also use the ak true metal which IIRC is wax too for none and breaking up the colour.
Thanks Hans, its actially a sort of semi matt in RL which is about perfect
17 February 2019, 18:16

Did you prime it or does the wax stick to the bare plastic?
17 February 2019, 18:41

I remember the wax trials. Unfortunately there wasnt an equivalent here I could find that held up.
Clifford, IME the horror stories are overblown. I love Alclad. And the AK metal paints are awesome as well.
17 February 2019, 18:51

Hi Patrick, nope straight on to bare plastic is fine. I dont ever wash my kits before even when painting
17 February 2019, 18:52

Quick pic to show progress on weathering and breaking up the single colour
18 February 2019, 22:38

Ha thanks Kezza, glad its got your approval 🙂 I think I will only pick out a few more panels and maybe the ones along the intake trunks
18 February 2019, 23:02

Thanks Clifford, the tone difference does not show up that great, its 3 tones to break up the wax silver.
19 February 2019, 00:18

Looks good to me. How do you put that stuff on?, do you brush it or what.
19 February 2019, 00:26

Lol Oh.. once or twice 😉 besides, I think the Javelin looks best in NMF I think..
19 February 2019, 00:38

I am not opposed to big girls.😉 And she isnt anywhere near that Bone in the basement.
19 February 2019, 01:56

Good point, she is not as big as the bone, but wing span is about the same as a flanker.
19 February 2019, 09:07

So bit of a bumper update, I've had a mad hour as such and have finished the upper surfaces.
The base is the Treasure silver wax, the Medium dark is AK True Metal AK456 Dark Aluminium, the Really dark is AK461 Gun Metal.
19 February 2019, 19:48

Thanks guys 🙂 I'm getting quite fond of the Javelin, its big.. but nice shape to it.
19 February 2019, 19:59

There are just not enough superlatives to describe you and your talent Augie. :-O
I for one am in awe of your abilities. 👍
A BIG Salute my friend. 🙂 🙂 🙂 👍
19 February 2019, 20:17

Augie. No smoke up your blouse girl. Just the truth. 😉
Your something special and we all love what you do. 👍
19 February 2019, 21:17

I agree with Kerry, there aren't enough words to describe the quality of your work. Those panels look just amazing. Much Kudo's, well done.
20 February 2019, 00:54

What appears next is going to be a museum masterpiece. 😉
I got to get some of what she eats every day. 😉
"Breakfast at Augies." heheheheheeh
20 February 2019, 20:41

Lol no fear, cant stand the stuff, mind you I dont mind real ale lol
21 February 2019, 00:31

Yes, this kit has an awesome decal sheet. I will admit I do not have the guts to do this one in NMF. I was impressed from the beginning on this one.
23 February 2019, 00:01

Now is the time to charge a viewer fee Augie. A small fortune is just waiting out here. 🙂 🙂 🙂 hehehe
23 February 2019, 00:33

Thanks Clifford, now the path of a hundred or so decals..
Thanks Kezza, tho I dont think the world is ready for pay per view modelling😉
23 February 2019, 00:36

The decal marathon begins, they dont settle too well even with set and sol on tap. Had to get a little physical with them to get them to sit.
The tail flash is another story entirely its huge, single piece thats oversize so not only do you have to get physical to get it into the lines.. you then need to trim. Fortunately there is spare so I can repair damaged bits.
24 February 2019, 12:08

Female wrestlers. ! ! ! 😉...............................The decals didn't stand a chance by the looks. !
I am assuming that there are all the small stencil types to come yet. ?
Now I see some 'closer' images of your paint work, I can see just how much fun you have had. 😉
Congrats Augie. 👍 🙂
24 February 2019, 12:56

Thanks kerry,
Yeah stencils are next.. all 200 of the buggers. As for the paint work, thanks i think lol 😛
24 February 2019, 13:10

thanks kerry 🙂 it was fun
Cheers don 🙂 you'll need it for the bone too lol
24 February 2019, 14:48

Looks great with a few decals on. 200 seems about average these days...
24 February 2019, 16:45

It can make it take on a white appearance, but once dry all good.
24 February 2019, 20:18

That looks fantastic and the tail flash looks brilliant, I love how you got it to go over the leading edge of the tail perfectly.👍👍👍
25 February 2019, 00:08

Thanks Michael 🙂 It was a pain in the butt lol🙂 most of the other unique decals are on it, then its just settle down for the data decals.
25 February 2019, 00:57

All those damned vortex generators. Did you cut or liberal solvent?
25 February 2019, 23:58

O really? Wow. Having a look in the stash.... and double wow. A neat row through both. Hadn't seen them before.
27 February 2019, 02:31

Yeah they fit ok.. both have needed more sol and set than I care to think about.
27 February 2019, 10:54
