In! I kinda like the early Fishbeds. They look slick and pretty crude at the same time.
4 February 2020, 21:06

Great start, the instruments look really crisp and the cockpit blue is spot-on 👍
4 February 2020, 21:24

Thanks slavo, the blue is my own special mix 🙂 instruments is my usual tricks too.
4 February 2020, 23:57

Just quick update as to why it is.. Actually quite impressed with this kit, the fit so far has been divine!
9 February 2020, 20:16

Yeah, love the cockpit color. Watching, I'm a big fan of silver soviet tubes.
9 February 2020, 23:09

Augie, as long as I live I doubt I'll ever see a modeller as skillful as you with a brush. Girl, you are awesome!!
10 February 2020, 02:44

Thanks Nathan 🙂
And thanks Peter 🙂 i'm sure there are others out there as practiced as i am with the hairy stick
10 February 2020, 11:48

Might be Augie, but it is amazing how often your name comes up in conversations you aren't privy to about brush skills. Von Drinkoften and I Skyped a week or so ago and guess who's brush skills came up. Yup, yours! Ya FAMOUS!
10 February 2020, 11:59

@ Peter Yikes, I didn't realise I was that famous for my brush work!
Roland, please do put pictures up will be good to see!
10 February 2020, 18:33

Snuck another one in on me did ya Lass. It sure looks nice though. Did you use your regular method for NMF finishes. I got some of the AK true metal colors that come in the tube. You can apply them then buff them to a very shiny state. I love them. I am going to use them on my next F-100 Super Sabre.
18 February 2020, 02:20

Hehe yeah guilty Clifford, usual method, although tried something new with the contrast panels. Seems to of worked too 😄
The contrast is AK true metal over the standard finish I use.
18 February 2020, 19:58

Thanks buddy, another one from different angle to really show the contrast.
18 February 2020, 23:18

How is the Trumpeter kit? I'm surprised that Eduard has not done one yet. Or have they?
19 February 2020, 01:24

Its trumpeters offering, actually really nice kit, the fit is magical
19 February 2020, 12:58

I too am a devotee of the AKA interactive metal finishes. 👍
The contrasts are well defined. Great work milady. 😉 👍
19 February 2020, 21:12

Thanks Kezza, was dead easy lol I dunno what all the fuss is about😉
19 February 2020, 23:54

Hi Kezza, glad to see you are still with us. I was quite worried about you and Mikey there for awhile.
20 February 2020, 04:10

Hey Aug's what color did you use for the cockpit? Is that emerald green, or blue. I have like 3 different bottles of paint for Mig cockpits and I can never quite figure out which color to use. I have Russian emerald green for cockpits, Emerald Green faded for Russian cockpits, Mig 29 cockpit Gray and Russian Gray Blue for cockpits. (The gray blue is for SU-27's etc). I think the Faded emerald green is for my Mig 23's and 27's. But I just can't figure out what color the Mig-21's were. Help!!! LOL.
25 February 2020, 01:02

Donald. If your using the AK interactive tube type paint, its easily brushed as it is a wax type material and can be spread super thin with great coverage and polishes up to a nice sheen. I us them all the time. 👍
25 February 2020, 01:49

Augie. You have done exceptionally well with the paint scheme, and the multi tone on the upper surfaces say just how good the AK works. 👍 😉
25 February 2020, 01:50

Russian MiG-21F13 had no green cockpit. It was medium gray with a black device panel. The green cockpits only came with the MiG-21PFM.
25 February 2020, 10:46

Hehe wow guys 🙂
@ Cliford i will send you the mix i use 🙂
@ Don, i brush paint everything! Lol
Thanks kezza, I aim to please
25 February 2020, 11:46

Bernhard, have you anything to back that up with? As I have seen a few 13's with the green cockpit.
For example planespotters.net/ph..mig-21f-13-fishbed-c
Clifford, the mix i use is 50/50 H25 and H46 from Mr Hobby, with some Vellejo Matt varnish in.
25 February 2020, 23:39

Yes, there are these exceptions, of course. Machines that have been under repair or have been changed in a museum. I was a technician on these aircraft for many years and I know them very well.

26 February 2020, 00:13

Augie. You nailed it perfectly. No matter what. so what if there were a few rivets too many...................................................................😉 👍
26 February 2020, 01:33

Thanks bernhard. Oh well 🙂 looks like she was a referb.
Other than that, always worth when criticising a build to give reason...not just the fault😉
Cheers kezza 🙂
26 February 2020, 07:29

Hello Augie, please continue building your MiG, it will definitely be a nice model. I just wanted to point out that all MiG-21F13s from the Soviet Union were delivered with a gray cockpit. Unfortunately, there are many model fans worldwide and you can see it again and again who think that the MiG-15, MiG-17 to MiG-19 all have the green cockpit. Unfortunately, this is not the case. I didn't want to take that as a criticism either, just a hint. 🙂
26 February 2020, 09:29

So I will be correct if I use the Green on my Mig-21PFM's and Mig-21 MFN?
27 February 2020, 19:58

Augie I'm flabbergasted, again. Stop doin' this shite with hairy sticks!
1 March 2020, 07:22

Good stuff - particularly on the MiG-21/naked soviet duraluminium surfaces, the brushwork adds realism to surfaces that would be otherwise too pristine. Really nice work going on here 👍
4 March 2020, 11:12

Great looking NMF, Augie! The finish you get with silver, with a brush, is awesome!
4 March 2020, 12:16

My usual quick update, slow progress, got distracted gaming... picked up again and decals are going on.
8 March 2020, 23:51

I am waiting for the day when you don't present an award winning build mate. 😉
I just love your work milady. 👍 🙂
9 March 2020, 00:35

Lol behave yourself, Its ok, but hardly an award winner! 🙂
Cheers tho matey 🙂 Will be watching your builds too.
9 March 2020, 01:01

Looking very nice Augie. I am in my new house now, just got internet back about an hour ago, Now comes the fun part. Unpacking, AAAARRRRGGGG. LOL.
10 March 2020, 00:21

Ahh the lost Mojo.. had a few gone that way, suspect ones I liked the idea of.. but never really liked the subject of too much.
10 March 2020, 19:07

My workroom is a pathethic pile of boxes and other assorated items. LOL.
13 March 2020, 00:08

The cockpit blue makes a great combo with the metal exterior 👍 - planning to keep it open?
15 March 2020, 07:48

Hi Slavo,
Yeah she's going to be open. Just trying to sort the bang seat out.
15 March 2020, 11:22

Is the panel photo-etch, decals or your mastery with the hairy stick?
15 March 2020, 23:37

So boys and girls, she's done. from what I have seen of them, they were fairly clean unless left out to rot, so she's kept as she is.
16 March 2020, 14:51

It looks like you have won a few more hearts Augie. 😉
The lip stick and make up you apply to your birds makes them as attractive as they will ever be, every time.
Well done girl. 👍 🙂
16 March 2020, 17:41

Lol thanks kezza 🙂 i've not resorted to lipstick on em yet, but i have used model paints as nail varnish! Lol
16 March 2020, 18:27

Most impressive Augie, you have done it again. A very nice Mig, especially one done with ye old hairy stick. My hat is off to you.
17 March 2020, 00:13

When I was kid (some say I still am... 🙂), there was a "naked" MiG-19 in a park & everybody was climbing on it - the metal looked very much like the brushwork-effect you got on this one 👍 Very nice, you captured the "spirit" of the machine rather well!
17 March 2020, 11:56

No Augie, please don't do this to me. A few parts are still missing. On the nose gear, the fork on the right side and the head plate on the ejection seat. Everything was in the kit. Maybe you will look again.😉
17 March 2020, 13:33

Hi Benhard, the forks on that was added after the picture was taken. The head plate is a good point I missed it.
17 March 2020, 13:36

Thank's for asking Augie, the unpacking is going slowly. All schools are closed for the next month due to the Coronavirus, so I have all 5 of my grandchildren who are not in school, so it is making the going kind of slow. I hope to get my work bench set up this weekend. Then I can get to reparing the models that got damaged in the move, and then I plan on starting my Airfix Lighting, though looking at your Mig has me thinking about the stack of Eduard Migs I have.
18 March 2020, 02:07

Hehe well hope things sort out soon for you buddy..
on the Migs.. do it, they are fun little blighters.
