Made a little bit of progress in the last two days. At least the fuselage is assembled. Next, I will cut out the dive breaks to show them in extended position.

Finally I can share some progress. Attached the improved dive breaks and prepared for the priming.

I want to try out the new Mr. Hobby Aqueous Surfacer white Aqueous White Surfacer.. Hobby - AQUEOUS HOBBY COLOR Satin, Acrylic, 40ml
Can anyone share some experience with it? Does it work with Mr. Leveling Thinner? Any colour types to avoid on top of it?

Brought on the above-mentioned primer, but I was not really pleased with the coverage. Used it 1:1 with MLT.
Intermediate blue is also already on. Will share pictures once I sprayed the rest in Navy blue.

Did the major part of the paint job and overall I am pleased with the result. Some touch-ups are needed as can be seen on the photos

Thanks for your compliments. I applied some wash and will continue with detail work tomorrow like paint chips and oil stains. Then I will post some updated pictures!

Decided to have only light wear. Some alu chips around panels, bit exhaust smoke, but no oil leaks. Most planes in reference photos looked rather clean.
Also finished the engine and bombs but all the detail work kept me from applying a matte varnish so far.

That's beautiful!
If you want to spice up: colour photos suggest that one of the canopy frames of the rear turtleback was painted red. E.g. faintly visible here: defencenet.gr/istori..heiriseis-sto-grammo

That's a really nice build! I'm kinda sad I traded this kit now.

Thank you all for the nice feedback. I really appreciate it.
@ Thomas: I have not noticed this in the photos in the various reference books I consulted. Is it only red on this single aircraft or maybe only in this unit? Maybe it was a field modification because the gunner always bumped his head there 😂
@ Nathan: The kit is really recommendable, especially for its age. I only added the cockpit PE, the rest of the detail is oob.

I guess the red painted canopy part is showing up on late Helldivers only. Difficult to see as you need good pictures - Possible that this was not applied to all. Another picture of a dash 4 with the red strip is here [img1]

I am proud to have won a silver medal at Euro Model Expo in the beginners category with the Helldiver. It was my first competition. 😃
30 March 2024, 05:59

Congratulations. Can you explain how the categories work? Because on the tables there was very little difference between beginner, advanced and master models.
30 March 2024, 11:39

@all: thank you very much!
@Martin: beginner class is for everyone that has never won this class. Standard class is if you have won at least 2 silver or one gold in beginner class in the last 5 years. Master class is when you have won a gold medal in standard class in the last 5 years.

Congratulation from me too 👍 And come on, we want to see your models in the Standard Class next year 😉
And thanks fro the visit on my booth in that corner far away!

Thank you very much guys.
@Frank: I will visit your booth anytime again. It's just incredible what you produce! Seeing the parts move is much better than just the static pics 😃
