The KMS Admiral Hipper, The HMS Glowworm & The Arado
A Joint Project - Between a Husband & Wife

This project will involve a model of the Admiral Hipper, the Glowworm & one of Hipper's Arados. The Trumpeter Admiral Hipper & IBG Glowworm will be the portion contributed by the missus. While it remains unclear if she plans to obtain aftermarkets it remains within the realm of possibility. Both kits are very good & the missus loves the tale of this veritable clash of David & Goliath story where the HMS Glowworm goes full steam ahead, knowing full well that the Hipper WILL sink her, but despite that they chose to ram her for maximum damage!

The Arado has been a long time in coming & until the missus obtained the Glowworm I wasn't sure which paint scheme I wanted to do my Arado 196 in. Although the Arados didn't really play a role in the aforementioned engagement they were still there to bear witness to the battle that led to the ONLY known recommendation from the Kriegsmarine to the Royal Navy in WW2 to grant a medal to an enemy combatant. In any event, drawing together all the components for this model has been challenging, time consuming & costly. Still I hope it will be a piece worthy of being displayed with two of those built by the missus.

After all, the day the Glowworm & Admiral Hipper clashed (literally) was exactly 37 years before her birth...
