F4U Corsair is probably one of the most iconic fighters in the Pacific theater. Used by the Allied nations including the Commonwealth and the British under its naval branch (Fleet Air Arm). This particular Corsair Mk.II (Marking 8 o L) is believed to be participating in Operation Ridge or Operation Veritas, a British Carrier Borne attack by FAA Squadron No. 1836 NAS and other squadron on 26 April 1944 at Bodø, Norway. The plane took off from HMS Victorious with the objective on raiding German coastal shipping at Bodø Harbor and as part of the 'Force 8' (hence the code '8'). The raid resulted in the sinking of three ships (15,083 tons) from a German southbound convoy for the loss of six aircraft to fighters and anti-aircraft fire.
Simple OOB project.
