The first year for the Corvette was 1953 and it featured the famed Blue Flame 6-cylinder engine, was available only in white with a red interior and was constructed out of fiberglass. The "Blue Flame" six-cylinder head developed more horsepower without increasing cylinder displacement. A blue rather than yellow flame within the cylinder meant that perfect combustion was achieved, promised GM's ad men.

Rick Rothermel Late-60s/Early '70s AMT kit design was sometimes not pretty or pleasant. That kit was not fun at all.
Arthur Anderson But, all is not lost: Monogram did an excellent rendition of the '53 Vette in 1/24th scale. It first featured a very nice diecast body & hood, and was reissued at least once, with a styrene body shell & hood. HIGHLY recommended!
