Bell P-39 Airacobra - Tuskegee Airmen
flown by Samuel L. Curtis

Scala:

Completato

I've chosen to build this aircraft because, in a way, belongs to the italian history. This aircraft was based at Capodichino (Naples) airport. It's name "Quanto Costa" in italian means "How Much" and the fact that the writing is set above a naked woman, reminds a sad page of Our history. In 1944 and 1945 the people of Italy was reduced to the hunger by bombing raid, the grocerieses missed and the only way for much woman, (above all in the south of Italy) who have their men (husband or brothers) lost on war front, to feed child, was prostitute themselves.
This to underline this tragedy, one of the so many collateral effects of the war.

Only through intervention at the highest levels of the AAF did the 332FG get the Mustang instead of the P-63 Kingcobra. Was the P-39 phase Stateside?

Ciao Phil, I have chosen the tuskegee p39 because they was largely used during the Italian campaign. The p-39 I will build was based to the Capodichino (Naples) airbase. For more, those was the same aircraft that was transferred to the 4° stormo of the italian cobelligerant airforce.

I've purchased a photo-etched sheet for the Academy P-39 but don't fit well for this heller old kit, so I've decided to not spend too time for the cockpit and focus on the "external" part....so let's see how this built will succed ;P

Dave, The 99th FS flew P-40 for sure. I 'd have to check if the 99th was in hand me down T-bolts by the time the group arrived. I have a model of a 99th FS P-40L that I think is posted in my albums.
